What’s an ITFC opinion which you will defend with your life? on 20:15 - Jun 13 by Phantasm
Pablo Couñago wasn't all that and got way more adulation than he deserved.
Controversial but probably true. I loved Pablo but in the end he wasn’t as good for us as Shefki.
Sublime talent at times but a little limited overall in the Championship as we often needed the rest of the team to give him a platform first. What I loved about McGoldrick for example was that he could force his way onto the ball and get us playing rather than first needing the right service.
Pronouns: He/Him

Not keeping James Wilson cost us the 21-22 season (and Cook his job).
Not saying he was spectacular, or that we would've won the league, but to release so many and start the season so badly lacking in key positions was criminal. He was totally capable at this level, as he's gone on to prove.

Would be mine as well.
Douglas wasn't bad, he just should never have been playing alongside Skuse.
Douglas was truly dreadful. That an opposition supporter took time to film him stealing a living says it all. My heart used to sink every time his heard his name on the team sheet. ‘Proper bloke Duggie’. Proper waste of space more like.

The Lyall promotion was the greatest achievement in our history, done as it was with a bunch of weirdos misfits has beens and youths in the face of enormous spending by Newcastle Blackburn and Derby.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Arnold Murhen is the greatest player to play for Ipswich. Beattie is the second best.
He’s not even second best Heathy. Behind Arnold but also Wark Butcher and Mick Mills.

Paul Cooper should have been replaced for the 1985-6 season. Was well past his best and even though we couldn't score in a brothel, an inform keeper would have kept us up.

We sold Dalian Atkinson way too early and far too cheaply*. When the 'NEW' Dalian arrived back for pre-season, bulked up and powerful, there was an air of excitement and anticipation that something was going to happen every time he got on the ball. He could've been immense for us had he stayed.
(*especially given that only a year later, Sheff weds made over £1m profit on selling him again)

Douglas’s pointing might have been top notch if he’d tried laying bricks instead of wandering around on a football pitch.
Things he was good at. Well he was clearly quite handy with the beard trimmer. Enough to impress Mark Ashton, I’m sure.
Things ‘Duggie’ wasn’t so good at: Passing, shooting, scoring goals, tackling, heading, finding space, reading the game, running (no pace whatsoever), dead ball kicking, throw ins, getting around the pitch.
