"They’ve got a really good budget in League One, they’ve got it in the Championship"

That's from Phils take and what I felt I'd heard.

It's not a massive thing so I don't wanna derail this thread. But I just personally dont see it as a lovely positive comment when it's countered by that budget talk.

But it's pure and utter personal opinion, so happy to be solo on this.

I think you have genuinely misheard what he said. I don't think you are deliberately misinterpreting his comments but he did say "They’ve got a really good budget in League One, they got in the Championship". His tone does trail off with that last part so it's an easy mistake to make.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Without going too forensic on this 😅 I believe Mick provides the clue in the first part of his sentence. He pronounces and forms the 'it' sound in "budg - et - in" in the same way he does the 'it' sound in "got - it - in".

It’s like this all over again

For what it’s worth, I hear him say ‘it’ as clear as day and obviously I am used to the accent. Even without that, the the next word is ‘nevertheless’ which makes sense if he’s talking about budget… ‘they’ve got in the championship, nevertheless he’s the coach’ doesn’t make sense.

TBH 99% of what he said is belittled by that comment about budgets imo.

Take away the budget talk and it's much better and much more respectable.

i personally don't like it when budgets are brought into the conversation because imo it's like saying hes a good manager but lets be honest it helps that he's got a nice budget. Very pompy Cowley like comments.

He’s not wrong though is he?

I don’t get why people get so offended when budgets are mentioned yet wave their willies at other times as to how much money we have haha.

Even Pep gets stick “ohh would like to see him at a League 2 club” etc etc

Mick had no funds here at all, and did a bloody good job considering, Kieran McKenna might be super but it sure does help having the funds we have.

If MM had have had these funds in Jan 2015 then we’d have gone up.

Maybe, but would decent players want to play Mickball?

We had plenty of decent players that season, I’m sure the lure of the PL in itself would’ve helped sign a couple

Evans wouldn't have picked KM firstly though.

But yes I do

Also it's worth noting McKenna wouldn't have taken the job on if Evans was still here. He was convinced by the project and that's down to Ashton. McKenna left a top job at his family's favourite football team to be here and more importantly he's a smart guy, he wouldn't take any old job because he didn't have to

Exactly. The original poster calls Mick "Dino" and no one bats an eyelid. But Frimmers correctly identifies Mick say "it" and gets #### for it from the same people. Tedious and obsessive.

It's not really being offended and as I said earlier I'm happy be on my own with this one.
But if you're complimenting someone on how well they're doing.. mentioning budgets imo reduces how well they've done as they've had a helping hand. Cowley was king at that and it just reminded me of it.

It's not a big thing at all. Just a personal view.

I do agree about 2015 however I believe its been well reported that he chose not to sign new players at that time.

But it's fun seeing who hears what from the video.

With regards to Jan 2015 yes I know that as well, but he would’ve liked one or two more quality additions, good lads type ones you know, I’m sure.

Actually, to be fair you could be right, watching it without sub-titles there is a hint of a 't' in there.

There is a phenomenom whereby you can hear different things when listening to the same spoken word, but when reading differnt things.

All of us who dispute your claim should try listening without the sub-titles on.

not agreeing with frims about mick letting himself down in what he said in the interview but he does say they got ( it ) in the championship. just the word in would make no sense

I hear it as in(to) which makes perfect sense to me.

They got in the Championship, as in into. That's how I hear it.
