Absolutely not. It's pension fund managers.

Yeah, did think that was a bit weird, I assume they got mixed up with the pension fund.

It's Phil's usual clickbait stuff to generate ad revenue, as others have pointed out that doesn't seem to be what he's said.

Take away the budget talk and it's much better and much more respectable. i personally don't like it when budgets are brought into the conversation because imo it's like saying hes a good manager but lets be honest it helps that he's got a nice budget. Very pompy Cowley like comments. |
Well of course it does. Sorry if it sounds anti-McKenna, but do you think he’d be doing as well as manager of Town if Evans was still the owner?

Evans wouldn't have picked KM firstly though. But yes I do

I doubt he'd have been offered the job if Evans was still in charge to be fair.

KM is clearly an intelligent man, but he's not a miracle worker. He wouldn't have been interested in working under Evans with the Evans budget. There's only so much you can do with quality coaching, resources do matter if they're well used.

McGoldrick was here because he was a sick note and the rest came in one at a time, rather than part of a wellrounded squad.

Well yes, but if we're saying could KM manager under Evans, then it all depends in what season are we imagining this takes place? The season he gave Magilton, Keane etc money to burn? the years after where whilst it wasn't highly competitive, it was still enabled us to offer some attractive wages to some players.. or just the latter years that Mick had? At the moment, KM is working with a team he put together in league one, players who potentially he could have identified under Evans ownership. we'll never know But, IMO back to the point within this thread, I feel if you compliment a manager there is no need to mention budgets, because you're countering that compliment. Maybe there is a bit of bitterness there - you yourself have just suggested Mick had tge bad end of Evans’ run. I think Movk is generally being fair, though, and there’s a case of making a mountain out of a molehill.

There's no mountain though it was one opinion about the comments. The rest just became a case of whether subtitles work or not. Lol.

You see, this is where you fall down. The phrase 'making a mountain out of a molehill' relies on there being a molehill, and not in there being a mountain. The illusory mountain is an attempt by someone to magnify the significance of the molehill... Edit: 'Dino' removed from LaManga's derogatory thread header, McCarthy inserted so as not to cause confusion with O'Brien...or McNeil, Or McGiven...or Hill... [Post edited 5 Oct 2023 16:29]

I heard the 'it' too (no subtitles on). But that's neither here nor there - how many sides in the Champ *don't* have some sort of budget to improve the squad? And as already pointed out by someone, he doesn't say we're amongst the top spenders.

Aye unless Mick pronounces his 'up' like his 'it' then Frimley is surely right in what was said. We don't in the Championship of course (and perhaps why the word is omitted in the subtitles) but comparatively Mick had to work on a shoestring here. I'm sure he's making reference to this (the difficulties he's faced in management) far more than he is qualifying his assessment of McKenna. Top man.

Indeed, and the fact that he follows up with "he's still got to coach them though" suggests we have a big budget for the Champ, or certainly more than he had (which may well be right). I think he's basically saying 'McKenna has worked wonders, done great coaching, but he's got a bigger budget than I ever had.'
