Little bit misleading that, given it goes on to say 'but Blackburn are categorically unwilling to sell as they don't have a replacement lined up'.
They're just about to sign a striker and have also been linked with Jerry Yates, so imagine he'll become available if they get them both.
They're not turning down the best part of £2m for someone who will walk away for nothing in 6 months. The Venky's are thick as sh!t, but not that much. |
Blackburn have the option for another year they could still get a fee for him easily enough once they trigger that in the summer not as much obviously unless he scored a few before the end of the season which looks possible watching him then they’d still get there couple of mill |  |

They did but it wasn't a particularly wise move and they were 5th at the time and not 10 points off the play offs. Short of a mad run, their season is absolutely dead already. Too much traffic ahead of them and they are losing one of their best players in Wharton too. |  | | |

I'm the same.Ali Al-Hamidi is a great signing and excellent prospect but we can't expect him to lead the line consistently for the rest of the season. Only an experienced striker can be expected to bear that responsibility. At the moment we are probably just about evens to get promoted (25% chance via automatic, 25% play-offs). If we get Gallager or equivalent we'd be odds-on (30% auto, 30% play-offs). Next 36 hours critical.
Ashton and McKenna have already achieved a great transfer window, if we get big Sam it will be an excellent one. |

I think your thinking is probably more astute & logical than that of Blackburn's owners! Can also see them/fans not wanting to let Gallagher go now unless they get a replacement in for him. Hope you're right though, obvs. |
I think Venky’s are pretty unpredictable but you’d have thought cold hard logic would prevail in the end, the only thing that really changes the logic is if Blackburn now want to trigger Gallagher’s extension.
Ultimately Gallagher to Ipswich seems to make sense for everyone so you’d think it has a good chance regardless of the public utterances and sabre rattling from Blackburn which probably just equate to negotiations.

The thing we don’t know is if we have been working on signing someone else for just as long or even longer. We just don’t know, but again reading between the lines of we’ve chased him for a fair while it suggests we’re getting a fair a bit of encouragement from somewhere to keep chasing. | | | |

Yes we've been chasing him. At the same time we've already signed another striker so we didn't have all our eggs in one basket.
We are targeting multiple people but will of course prioritise. Stansfield we moved on from already. Gallagher appears first choice. Potentially not shut door on Moore and there will be others not leaked. | |
