The Binners can't cope with this success. The cup final approach to a simple league game in December showed that. Their CEO marching around laying hands on the infirm, the "Ultras" and the ceremonial throwing of the beer cans were pathetic in every sense of the word

My kids are 30 and 28. In their football supporting time they have seen us win leagues, been to Anfield, Old Trafford, the Emirates in the league and seen us win at The Etihad. Seen us win at Wembley (that's the new one by the way)

Every time we play the Binners in anything meaningful, we win.

My kids have an interest in the World Cup and European championship because norwich players are in it playing for international teams

They know success and think nothing of Ipswich because they have been nothing but cannon fodder in the few times our paths have meaningfully crossed

Imagine a 30 year old Binner. All they will be taught is about black and white success and how Norwich "hent never won nothin"

My kids got bored going to civic receptions.

My favourite bit of the wiki page,

Norwich include "participating in the UEFA Cup" as an honour, although it is notable that their rivals, Ipswich Town, have previously won the competition and played over 60 games in all three European competitions, versus Norwich's six.

That must have been edited by an Ipswich fan.

They've even managed to create a lengthy Wikipedia page about the Bayern Munich match.

You couldn't make it up.

It's also worth pointing out that forums attract their fair share of eejits. I was chatting to a couple of Norwich fans on Friday evening and they were (grudgingly) full of praise for not only the season we're having but the style of play and the way the club is now run. Despite them being on an excellent run they still feel the club is in decline, that Wagner is a poor man's Farke, and that they have little to show for over a decade or Prem money coming into the club. It feels like they are still quite fragile even though they've had an excellent 2024 so far.

I know it's only a small sample size (but given the small gene pool it's probably representative), but there does seem to be a kind of manic despair about us on there and wild swings in their match day threads about themselves between "we are relegation standard" and "what a team!"

I think (and this isn't a dig, it's a genuine opinion) that it's something that might be called Unsuccessful Club Syndrome which magnifies the effects of your rivals' success in your heads, whilst making you feel that tottering around between the top of the Championship and scraping the bottom of the barrel of the Premier League represents some kind of glory era.

Having said that there are also a sizeable portion of regular posters on there who are very complimentary about us. They are the ones that the manic delusionals continuously scream "BINNER!" at.

Maybe, but one of our fans didn’t write, authorise or publish ‘Participants’ on their programme (lack of) honours page.

Forever tinpot.

Of those 6 games, they have 2 x wins, 2 x draws and 2 x defeats. Hardly major achievement, is it?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwich_City_F.C._in_European_football

Norwich City F.C. in European football

Seven years of Texaco Cup(?) or Anglo-Scottish Cup(?) heroics and a solitary year of third round UEFA Cup glory.

The overall goal differences for all competitions are only in the single figure negatives, which is something to be proud of, given the opposition consisted of the likes of:

Dundee
Motherwell
St Johnstone
Burnley
Peterborough
Bristol City
Leyton Orient
Notts County
Mansfield Town

I know the first three are Scottish - are the others from Commonwealth countries with English place names? In Europe?

As Martin Lambert put it on Talking Town, late last year, “What have you done with this decade of dominance? Been a yo-yo club. Is that dominance? Cause if you think it is, I’ve got some real dominance I can show you.”

When the winless run ends, I’m convinced it wil come in one of three ways:

1) Us doing to them what Cardiff did to us a couple of weeks ago.
2) Us thrashing them.
3) We beat them in a meaningful game - I.e the the playoffs.

I’m also convinced that once we end the winless run, victories over them will arrive like buses again for a period.

Budgies always cite that they were banned from Europe, I believe they would have qualified 2 more times, in one of those seasons they were actually relegated so how they would have fared is anyone's guess but not well you would assume

A 30 year old Town fan would have seen us qualify for Europe and beat Inter Milan. Even in our worst quarter century, we've still achieved things that'd make their honours board.

And win at Anfield - the one I remember most, was there for the Marcus Stewart winner

and seen us at the Emirates, in a semi final of the league cup no less, that was only 13 years ago after we beat Arsenal at home, where some guy called Fabregas played. and we played at Old Trafford 9 years ago.

I know theyre tinpot fans up there, but theyre really scraping the tin pot of tin potness with stuff like that.

Town will have played 46 cup finals come the end of this season & it's this approach which has turned us around from our previous ownership/management

We know it

They know it

Whatever happens by this season's end, we are the club who will go on to achieve greater things, because a new period of dominance has already started

The "beer can" incident, merely a curtain raiser to highlight who the real idiots are (those who turned down a protected, safe passage from local authorities, & instead followed immediately behind the Ipswich Town team bus - how's that for a metaphor!)

I predict not just promotion, but back in the top flight, we'll finish in a European placing, & in our first return to European competition, we'll progress further than a 3rd round

We know it

They know it

COYB's!

Time to add ‘going to stadiums’ to the list of noteworthy achievements if you’re associated with Norwich City.

That's exactly what I took from it. A long list of celebratory participation! Lol

We have won more European games since we were relegated from the Premier League than they have won in Europe in their entire history.

By comparison, the Wikipedia pages for Motherwell's, St Johntone's and Dundee's participation in Europe don't mention the Texaco Cup or Anglo-Scottish Cup.

They clearly aren't that desperate.
