De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 17:00 - May 18 by ITFCBlues | The gap is massive both on and off the pitch. |
McKenna is clearly going to have a decision to make, but this is being over-egged on both sides. Regardless of how long who has been in the Prem, we both start the season on the exact same amount of points, so the gap isn’t “massive”.

De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 17:22 - May 18 with 1982 views | Daninthecampo | Strange he's left by mutual consent I thought he had a big release clause, one of the favourites for the Bayern job, so weird they've let him go. Let's hope KM is still fully committed to us

If twtd or Watson reported a we understand Brighton have asked to speak to Mckenna. Then yes there's something in it. Until then its all just agent news.

Makes you think they're going for someone they don't need to pay for.. Potter. Moyes.. etc

It's nonsense to say the gap is massive now that we're in the same division ... maybe plausible if Brighton had been in the top division for decades, but they were promoted in 2017. Prior to that they had played out most of their underwhelming existence in the lower leagues, they have been expertly run but they will not get any bigger. If we were in the Championship we would be much more vulnerable, but why go to Brighton having already turned down a similar sized club in Palace when we were in the Championship.

Good thing is we will know where we stand, if he turns them down I’m sure we will stay for the season

De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 17:29 - May 18 with 1787 views | Jimmy86 | I would be a lot more worried about this, if we hadn't been promoted... I just can't see that McKenna would leave us for the likes of Brighton.. ok, they're a settled premier league club, but the aim of the ownership will be to make us a settled premier league club... Guess we will see just how much McKenna does "love it here" as he said only the other week, when we sealed promotion.. It's often been said that the release clause is double the figure that's been reported, which was 4 million.. are Brighton really going to pay 8 million for McKenna? Can't quite see it
De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 17:30 - May 18 with 1754 views | Vic | From the Beeb article - }BBC Sport understands that one manager on Brighton's list to replace De Zerbi is likely to be Kieran McKenna, who has just won promotion to the Premier League with Ipswich.” This was the biggest risk club so if we can see this one off we’ll be OK. Not sure why they would be much more attract8ve than us though.

De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 16:27 - May 18 by Swansea_Blue | I’d be worried if we were in L1, but I don’t see how Brighton are a better proposition than us now. They’ve the benefit of a proven PL squad, as they’ve been chucking money around. In terms of potential, overall club size, fan base, etc., we shouldn’t have anything to fear. |
There is nothing in this for McKenna. He might be able to match what Potter and De Zerbi have done for Brighton, but he might not. He cannot do much better because the potential a club of Brighton’s size has already been realised. The potential at Ipswich is greater than that of Brighton so why go there? If say the Villa manager went to United and AV came in for Kieran, I could see the attraction. What will be will be. It’s KMs choice. I hope he stays of course, but if not we are in a far different place now and hopefully the work has been done to identify a possible successor. ITFC will continue to grow. The ownership, upper management structure, club structure is the key to everything.

De Zerbi leaving Brighton on 16:39 - May 18 by itfcjoe | Least it’s happened early, so if they are able to successfully prise McKenna away then we will have a new man in for our pre season. But this could be an absolute nightmare for us, am seriously panicked now and just really hope he does stay - but this is one where he’ll have a very very difficult decision to make |
If anything does happen then , as you indicate, it really needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Is Potter still being paid ludicrous amounts by Chelsea though, would he want/need to work? (See also Paul Lambert)

Brighton have won four PL matches in 2024. I’m sure that mutual consent suits them nicely.
