To distract us from all the contract shenanigans, what was your favourite goal from the last season? It doesn't necessarily have to be the best goal as I think Burns wins that without trying.

All of the above qualify more, but one from the early part of the season is the second goal against Hull here:
Obviously it is a great goal but I also remember it as a kind of watershed moment in the North Stand to see the value of Hladky taking the extra risky touch and playing out. As much as the celebrations after were for the goal, almost as much appreciation was visible to him.

The Chaplin goal is the one for me. Almost speechlessly beautiful.

Broadhead’s header against Millwall, where he jumped with his back to the goal and diverted Hutchinson’s shot perfectly into the corner of the net. It was just extraordinary.
They'd all laugh at me if they knew what I was trying to do. To create a new strain of super-wine in half-an-hour with a fraction of nature's resources and a FOOL for an assistant. 'Bernard Black, he's mad,' they'd say, 'he's insane, he's dangerous.' Well I'll show them! I'll show them all!

I wish that Burns goal was scored at the SBR end.
I know it was cold that day, but the lack of limbs was embarrassing. Every time it gets replayed I'm amazed at how most supporters just stood and clapped.
It really did look like the least celebrated goal of the season. Looked more like a consolation goal scored on 90 plus minutes when already 3 down. Quite bizarre really, and it will be the goal picked from the video vault for years to come.
I also feel the same about Gunn/Ullathorne from years back. It was absolutely barmy in the North when that happened.
Most of the top contenders have already been mentioned but I'll add the Harness goal to equalise at Birmingham is up there. After the cardiff, Blackburn and Wolves games it really felt like things were going our way after so many years of the opposite.
Great finish too

I think I may have to watch the vid of all 92 goals to arrive at a decision.
We scored some absolute beauties didn't we?
Chaplin v Hull was definitely one of my faves though. The way he set himself on the edge of the box. The ball was in the net before he even struck it, absolute nailed on goal. The confidence was absolutely oozing at that point.
I loved the SARMIENTO goal at Leicester,.... once we'd got past that game . Still in it I just knew subconsciously that we had a great chance ... coming out of the ground after that I was so pumped and " Magic" was really born that night !

Haha, love that Gunn shout.
Hardest I've ever celebrated a goal, that..... until Sarmiento vs Saints.

... and, by the way, Taylor vs Swansea was a super-sweet strike. His goal vs Wolves also good, but the keeper (Daniel Bentley iirc) should've done better.
Williams vs Preston was nuts, berserk 60 yards run and composed finish at the end - one of the (very few) sad points of last season was how it all worked out with him.

As others have said, it's the obvious pick but it has to be Sarmiento against Saints. It was so late in the game that we knew it was a winner, a huge winner that more or less put Saints out of the running and turned the screw on Leeds and Leicester. It was a pivotal moment in our season at the end of a game where we'd had to really dig in at times and worked so hard to finally wrestle some control in the game. The groan when he fell on his arse trying to hit it with his left being followed a few seconds later by absolute bedlam as the ball headed into the bottom corner will stay with me forever. Absolute scenes.

For me it's a toss up between Sarmiento against Southampton and Burgess against Coventry.
I'm surprised the latter hasn't had a mention yet - that goal basically sent us into that last game in party mode knowing we were nearly there.
That goal was scarily similar as well to the Broadhead goal at Barnsley last year. Midweek away game at the end of the season, a goal scored at the opposite end to the away fans where it would have been unclear for several seconds that a goal had actually been scored.

Yes, definitely why it doesn’t rate as highly from my perspective, despite the obvious importance.
Sarmiento remains the absolute highlight but a couple not mentioned:
- Moore at Coventry, a perfect view of the whole move and a second of anticipation before wild celebrations. As with his goal at Plymouth the shot was so hard that the ball hit the back of the net incredibly quickly.
- Burns versus Huddersfield, we were comfortable but had kept missing chances so it came at a good time. It looks simple from Omari winning the ball to Hirst, to Chaplin and then the little ball to Wes except it was the result of hours of work on the training ground.
This thread really does highlight what a ridiculous season we’ve just had. Hard to imagine how that will ever be topped from an entertainment perspective.
There must be at least 50% of our games where we either scored decent goals or had last minute winners.

Yup, the Burgess one was going to be my suggestion too, not for the quality of the goal but just for the position it put us in heading into the final day and the warm fuzzy feeling it gave me inside!

Harry Clarke played the most important part of that whole move.
Had he not been involved in the passing to begin with AND made an 80 yard run to overlap Burns and drag the second defender, then Burns could never have cut inside to score the goal he did.

It will never be topped. I'm coming to terms with that slowly.
When you score 92 goals and win promotion as a newly promoted club some said could go down and when you're involved in a promotion race with three clubs who each had a player that cost more than our squad, then every goal across the whole season just felt massive.
There were probably 15 goals across the season that would have won our goal of the season competition in most other seasons since we were last in the Premier League.
Burns v Coventry Luongo v Millwall Chaplin v Hull Taylor v Swansea Broadhead v Cardiff Hutchison v Hull Jackson v Stoke
The list just goes on for ridiculous individual strikes or amazing team goals.
It's never being topped let's be honest. The outcome surpassing the expectations was not quite 2000/01 getting into Europe levels but in terms of only 6 defeats, getting nearly 100 points and 100 goals it arguably passes it on some small level.
Just a proper joke of a season and I bloody loved it.
