Just read the relevant part - the Tory manifesto includes nothing on a duty of candour.
Seven years after the recommendations of Bishop James, they have not included any commitment to criminalising police officer who mislead/lie at a public inquiries.
They have included something on an independent public advocate.

what would you get for your £27 billion that you can't get in other ways? eg place a tax on land banks if work doesn't start after planning is obtained?
That would do I spose - anything to stop their iffy ways and get them building decently built affordable homes.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Cleaner wants to see more bins in public and a ban on robot vacuum cleaners. Cleaner's broom got caught in the bristles of RoboVac once and it looked so lewd that Mrs Cleaner done herself a whoopsie.
Cleaner can't compete with that level of sordid filth.

Dog owners will have to eat their own dogs s**t if they don’t clean up after their pet.
Should apply to cats too.

My cat tells me off every time I sneeze with a pissed off meow.
Just thought I'd share that.

I know some will already be outraged but there have been various studies showing the cost of this and how it would be funded, including savings on some current benefits etc.
The figures I have seen are also higher than I would expect it to pay.
I would propose a £400-500 UBI for adults and £200-£250 UBI for children. This figure is clearly not enough to live on but would give people some sort of freedom and a safety need to target work they would actually find fulfilling. Starting a business would be less of a risk.
Some people may well choose to work less. So what? Let's say some people dropped to a 4 day week, it would have a massive impact on health and mental health. It could save the NHS a fortune. It would potentially takes cars off the roads and reduce climate change emissions. Businesses which rely on workers would be subsidised by the UBI to make up for reduced numbers.
We were all supposed to benefit from technology. We now have super factories where machines do 99% of the work at speeds an Aldi or Lidl checkout assistant could only dream of. Let's raise taxes on the profits these businesses make.
I'm sure there are another 100 reasons why this would be a great idea and possible some downsides I haven't thought of but I bet we could find solutions if we wanted to.
More realistically, nationalise water, public transport and energy.
And a bonus one, create a new national taxpayer owned supermarket. All profits reinvested subsiding fruits, vegetables, wholegrains, beans, pulses etc etc.
Bonus two...when we have 'windfalls', invest the money in a national fund to provide income for the future. I understand windfalls are more like governments realising they can spend another £100 on their credit card before it's maxed again but lets invest that money.

Please can someone ban leaf blowers, one of the noisiest, eco unfriendly, pointless gadgets ever invented.
Something needs to be done about all the housing stock in landlord hands. I have decided housing is too important a public good to be run by private investors.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Get you, not being able to afford to live on £400-500 per hour!
(I'd support that idea. No idea if feasible, but sounds like the sort of thing that would actually help with 'levelling up').
Well you won’t see anything materialise of anything any politician says this week or on the coming weeks. It’s all manifesto bingo. Not worth the paper it’s written on, and all a bit embarrassing that they think anyone believes, let alone votes based on whatever ball the blurt.

That's a depressing summary and one based on what the Tories and other similar entities want you to think.
The only recent evidence we have is that the Tories won't follow through on their manifesto commitments, why have you extended that to other parties who haven't had a chance to do that in over a decade?

When there is a major screw up in such as the health service or the Post Office or other business or utility, people must be held accountable and penalised instead of, or in addition to, some nebulous 'corporate responsibility', a fine which finishes up being paid for by the end user. If this means that CEOs face some jeopardy, prison or seizure of assets or both, in the event that their subordinates miss up then good.

I can understand the logic for using them but every time I see someone with them they blow leaves onto the street/road/somewhere else and a few minutes later the wind blows them back again albeit in a bigger mess. Just seems pointless.

Hi SB. Thanks for challenging. I’m on a right downer on all things political right now. I’m old enough to have seen the others do the same, albeit nowhere near as the car crash this current lot have been. Self serving toss pots. Having voted Tory all my life, there’s no way they’re getting my vote. To be honest disgusted with the latest incarnation of them.
I’ll vote Labour, just because I feel they’re historically more aligned to safeguarding key essential services, which should be non for profits, but really can’t see how they’ll do it financially.
I’d love a bit of honesty, like “NHS is under funded by £4b per annum, we can’t plug that hole or quickly magic up 10,000 doctors and 30,000 nurses, but we’ll set the framework through subsidising and increasing education routes to achieve this in x years”. You just get the sound bites with manifestos, not realistic well thought out plan of how to achieve something sustainable. I’d rather see a plan of smaller positive steps than platitudes and soundbites.

I would like to see an immediate ban on political posts on football forums. When any politician knocks on my door and we discuss my views, if they then turn round and tell me to just look at the football part of the forum, I would unleash a swift rabbit punch to the Adams apple.

That would be amazing I agree but something that will never happen unfortunately.
The only thing I've heard so far from any of the potential policies (admittedly we don't know them all yet) which I really support is the new nationalised green energy company. I've mentioned a few times over the years that it's madness we buy in green tech from other countries.
Get graduates in designing the tech and roll out a huge number of apprenticeships for the other roles and keep the knowledge and money within the country. It's so obvious that I'm glad it's finally gaining some traction.
