A little thought as you enter the polling booth to make your mark.... on 09:55 - Jul 4 by Zapers | Nope, just more wealthy people would have migrated, and bought their plans forward a few years Those potholes would likely be craters now. |
Why do you think a few millionaires emigrating will make potholes bigger

Less tax revenue. 9500 is hardly a few.

A little thought as you enter the polling booth to make your mark.... on 10:01 - Jul 4 by Prominent_Blue | If the last 14 years have been so bad explain why the Conservatives won a big majority in 2019 ? Nobody knew Covid was round the corner and there have been massive mistakes since that terrible time. However, Labour and their woke, open borders policies are going to destroy this country. There are roughly 2.5m millionaires in the Uk. So it is a few. Depends on if they pay income tax doesn’t it? Otherwise it won’t be very much money missing at all.

A little thought as you enter the polling booth to make your mark.... on 08:07 - Jul 4 by BanksterDebtSlave | Seems to me that almost nobody is actually voting FOR something today. What a state of affairs. |
Well I'm voting *for* a shift away from a one-party full-on fascist state run by a party who are 1. increasingly reducing our right to peacefully protest 2. increasingly reducing our human rights via de-regulation of employment laws, environmental laws, intention to take us out of the ECHR etc. 3. increasingly disenfrancising us by changing electoral laws (eg introduction of ID requirements), skewing boundaries etc to favour their return to power. 4. Literally selling England by the ££ - don't get me started on Freeports & Charter Cities (why are those de-regulated atrocities never mentioned?). etc. If you don't care about those things sufficiently to vote to get that proven bunch of corrupt, power-mad, uncaring, negligent, incompetent, lying, greedy, self-serving con-artists out, then you don't actually give a flying fig for other people, democracy or a better place for us to live in at all.

"woke, open borders policies" Surely Brexit put a stop to immigration?

Brexit is the reason, as is well known. Some people had got bored of it taking a long time to sort out a hugely complex problem and wanted a quick fit of 'getting Brexit done' and an 'oven ready deal', even if it was done in a way that shafted the UK. Labour don't have an open border policy. No party has an open border policy per se, although Lib Dems and the Greens want to rejoin the EU which would inevitably lead to freedom of movement. Yet we had lower immigration when we were part of the EU, so go figure. [Post edited 4 Jul 2024 12:21]

Bankster is safe in the knowledge the Tories will be removed so he can go on making threads like this. If it was 50/50 we might see something different.

I saw that Ben Houchen won a third term as the mayor of Tees Valley. Absolutely bonkers when you read about what's going on up there with their Teesworks project.

I think you're giving him too much credit there, personally. The Tories and the misery they bring suits a bod playing the long game looking for a revolution - the little people can hurt all they like in the meantime for the sake of the greater good.

A little thought as you enter the polling booth to make your mark.... on 10:04 - Jul 4 by BanksterDebtSlave | I am not calling anybody out but simply stating the case as I see it. In my opinion society has gone progressively downhill in my lifetime and I decide not to engage with legitimising those that have enabled that process. I think now is a good time to express that view. |
And of course framing your posts in this thread in that context ligitimises them more, but without the context your comments seemed to me to be unnecessarily anti people who are trying to influence change. None of us are naive enough to think Labour have all the answers or will get everything right, but some of us are using our vote to kick the tories out in an attempt to at least look over the fence to see what's there. We all know the grass isn't always greener, but it might be fresher and less flooded with the sh1t of the last 14 years. I've no problem at all with your position and would be interested to know more about how you arrived at it. What I do care less about is the getting at those who are genuinely excited at the possibility of influencing something different via the ballot box.

I said by global standards, not British. The Conservative Party has been centre-left for a lot of its post-War existence - free healthcare, for a start. Compare that with US politics.

A little thought as you enter the polling booth to make your mark.... on 09:30 - Jul 4 by Zapers | I agree regarding Corbyn, he would have been a disaster for the country. Personally if I could vote, I would abstain. I could never bring myself to vote labour. It's been estimated by Henley and partners , in their migration report, that up to 9500 millionaires will migrate from the UK this year. This is second only to China. More than double the previous year. 2024 is likely to see "An unprecedented 128,000 millionaires relocate worldwide this year, eclipsing the previous record set in 2023" Good luck with those potholes at the end of your street! |
why do you think they are potholes at the end of your street. is because 9500 millionaires are leaving.

There are no potholes at the end of Zapers' street, they pay a private company to fill them in, like every good millionaire should!

Brexit won’t be reversed within this Parliament - not even the next one. But friendly relations with the EU is a starter and Labour will deliver this. Toddler steps to rejoining and all that.
