Well I'm voting *for* a shift away from a one-party full-on fascist state run by a party who are
1. increasingly reducing our right to peacefully protest
2. increasingly reducing our human rights via de-regulation of employment laws, environmental laws, intention to take us out of the ECHR etc.
3. increasingly disenfrancising us by changing electoral laws (eg introduction of ID requirements), skewing boundaries etc to favour their return to power.
4. Literally selling England by the ££ - don't get me started on Freeports & Charter Cities (why are those de-regulated atrocities never mentioned?).

Brexit is the reason, as is well known. Some people had got bored of it taking a long time to sort out a hugely complex problem and wanted a quick fit of 'getting Brexit done' and an 'oven ready deal', even if it was done in a way that shafted the UK.
Labour don't have an open border policy. No party has an open border policy per se, although Lib Dems and the Greens want to rejoin the EU which would inevitably lead to freedom of movement. Yet we had lower immigration when we were part of the EU, so go figure. [Post edited 4 Jul 2024 12:21]

I am not calling anybody out but simply stating the case as I see it. In my opinion society has gone progressively downhill in my lifetime and I decide not to engage with legitimising those that have enabled that process. I think now is a good time to express that view. |
And of course framing your posts in this thread in that context ligitimises them more, but without the context your comments seemed to me to be unnecessarily anti people who are trying to influence change. None of us are naive enough to think Labour have all the answers or will get everything right, but some of us are using our vote to kick the tories out in an attempt to at least look over the fence to see what's there. We all know the grass isn't always greener, but it might be fresher and less flooded with the sh1t of the last 14 years.
I've no problem at all with your position and would be interested to know more about how you arrived at it. What I do care less about is the getting at those who are genuinely excited at the possibility of influencing something different via the ballot box. |  |

Personally if I could vote, I would abstain. I could never bring myself to vote labour.
