I'd be amazed if we've moved on. We'll be working like hell to complete. The Greaves deal being separated makes perfect sense both from point of view of getting it done without all the JP issues getting the way and I believe it's probably been necessitated and the JP deal will now be worth more.
Villa it seems as a minimum want their 30% on a fair valuation. The delays will be
A) the player confirms he wants to come to us. In which case 3 way negotiation effectively on the price and Villa just get their 30% on that and walk away without matching it again. (Basically unless they agree it they will keep matching).
B) they are desperate to sign him and will offer him a better deal and guarantees to play.
I don't blame the player here or any party really. It a complicated scenario and he's in demand with a ball ache of a clause in his contract. | |

Hasn’t really been like that for some time though, basically just the first Summer after he/Gamechanger arrived and people’s usual contacts were out of the loop
Since then, we’ve had loads of transfers that have dragged out publicly. Davis, Hirst (both times and even x3 including the Summer we were clearly trying and failed to sign him), Taylor, Moore etc all spring to mind as being long running transfers in the press. Same with both players signed so far this Summer
Yes, the odd one like Sarmiento still happens quickly but that’s always been the case, just a better quality of player than say Ben Pringle being suddenly revealed! |  |

I'm thinking that the original Town/Hull agreement was a little bit of a stitch up of Villa which resulted in a 'cake' of which Town got to eat half, and Hull got to eat half.
Perhaps the now 'recognised' individual vales for Philogene and Greaves mean that that same cake can be cut into three equal slices; one each for Villa, Town and Hull?
Then everyone gets a feed and Philogene gets to come here to where he knows he'll do best. I'm off for a coffee and a nice slice of something. |  |
