That's true. If one can put a positive spin on it, £350k in PSR terms, if we signed a player on a 5 year contract, £350k would provide income to cover the first year of a player bought for £1.75 million. Although that's small fry when compared to buying Greaves and Delap, we may well buy a couple of young players for that sort of fee for the future, a la Al Hamadi. With the cash we do have at our disposal, covering PSR is probably the most important aspect of all income.

Watson reckons 10,000+ memberships have been renewed! on 22:17 - Jul 18 by Hipsterectomy | Taylor Swift has changed the game with how tickets to big events are sold. I saw her official website hosting a competition where, at random, 1 lucky winner would win a window of opportunity to PURCHASE 2 tickets at face value. The memberships don't give much value other than some reassurance to those with FOMO, which is made redundant when thousands are buying them or using it as a quick way to gain 5 away points. I know we're doing the best we can, and this is something that was probably never a priority when we were averaging 16,000 fans in the Championship in recent memory, but I feel we are victims of our own success to an extent. Not being able to reliably buy tickets with friends and family isn't great. Even in the club's FAQ regarding it, the advice was just 'wait for the person with lowest priority to be able to buy tickets' |
Agreed. We are very much victims of our own success. Even the most wild optimist could never have predicted where we’d be, ticket demand wise, before Gamechanger. As a support base, we’ve outgrown the football ground by a large, albeit unknown margin.

Think it's more a case of adding together all the 350ks that then does add up. The club have done well in increasing their revenue in most areas over the past few seasons and to be competitive will need to keep doing this.

Need a few stable seasons in the prem then increase capacity by a good 10-15000. It'll be needed. Maybe even more. The catchment area for town is absolutely massive.

EDIT: How many are non ST holders? how many bought a ticket last season? on 18:50 - Jul 18 by unstableblue | (Edit: with thanks to Chealey and J2 - I had misread the deets, changed as per) The key questions are how many more who could renew, as non-season ticket holders, with a one or more ticket purchase history are still planning to purchase a membership? So what is the final total going into the 25% of available tickets in the ballot. Because that final number will be vying for around 1500 tickets available for matchday via the ballot! (29k-20k STs - 3k away = 6000*25% = 1500) Gut feel is that group will have a poor chance to get a ticket around 6:1. And also tickets will never make general sale this season, so some value in new membership. Note: Today from 10am was when it was opened to new members. So will be interesting to see the final membership total. [Post edited 19 Jul 2024 9:15]

That number would include most of the non season ticket holders from last season who were already members?

How many are non ST holders? how many bought a ticket last season? on 19:40 - Jul 18 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | I think you need to re-read how tickets sales are going to work The ballot is for 1/4 of available tickets only, so won’t be anywhere close to 6,500. The rest will then go on sale to non-ST members (regardless of purchase history), first come first served They won’t make it to ST holding members, let alone general sale, barring a real struggle in which case a game like Wolves at home in April may have a chance, but unlikely. Not sure why this is a surprise to anyone really, was obviously going to be a case given the way sales were going last season let alone now we’re in the PL EDIT; earlier round cup games at home will obviously be an exception [Post edited 18 Jul 2024 19:41]

Thanks CHealey… got that completely wrong. Have updates post. I’m thinking 6:1 chance of a renewing member, with 1+ purchase history getting a ticket in the ballot. Which is low.

How many are non ST holders? how many bought a ticket last season? on 19:07 - Jul 18 by J2BLUE | 6.5k? 29000 (I have left the odd for segregation) -22000 ST 7000 -3000 Away 4000 - boxes, player tickets, corporate tickets, directors box etc etc I can't imagine there is more than 3000 tickets left 750 ballot 2250 first come first served It will be carnage. - |
You’re right J2 I misread the small print. As you say only 25% of available capacity I think the calculation is perhaps 1500 available in ballot first phase? 1500 tickets available for matchday via the ballot! (29k-20k STs - 3k away = 6000*25% = 1500) I agree capacity is probably down the 29k with press box and other moves.

Watson reckons 10,000+ memberships have been renewed! on 22:53 - Jul 18 by olimar | That was exactly my question- back in 2000, the ballot (pioneering as it was at the time) took people out once they had been awarded a ticket and only added back in once everyone had a turn. Back then though, we would surely have had fewer members (I think 1999 was the first time they ever had memberships, so it was pretty new). so maybe they could give more guarantees. But if we only have 5000 seats available each game and we end up with 20,000 members, they could in theory lock down any new members after the start of the season and guarantee everyone they would get the option to buy 4-5 tickets. Edit: I realise I overlooked the fact that the ballot is only for the first 25% of tickets. But even so, they can still apply a rota to it. [Post edited 18 Jul 2024 23:18]

If applying / succeeding excluded you from future ballots, they’d have said so.

Also a good reminder of the stadium standard that the Gamechanger team and new investors will be used to, look forward to seeing their plans soon. https://www.empowerfieldatmilehigh.com/stadium

Watson reckons 10,000+ memberships have been renewed! on 18:57 - Jul 18 by MattinLondon | With me, renewing my membership was just my desperate way of being able to attend a couple of matches. I could only attend three matches last season so I’m not holding out much hope. |
Stay in touch. Being in Cheltenham, I can't make them all, and as Sky will fcuk about with half our kick off times, I'll have a seat available occasionally.

An interesting point to note here, why would the club tell anyone how many members they have? If they reveal a figure it could cause more arguments between supporters.
