If the rumours are true then we are about to get one hell of a player! I live in Stockholm and go to all of Sweden's home matches. Everytime he's played he conducts what goes on around him. He's tall and athletic. Wins duals that are 30/70 not in his favour. Great passer of the ball and carries it direct and at speed. Fantastic for breaking the lines and getting the opposition to pedal backwards. This would be a quality signing.
I can't find this anywhere and is it not a translation thing. The deal fell through after medical but not because of medical seems to be the case. I.e. it got as far of him having the medical. It it fell through on paperwork.
Or do you have some source here? Does seem strange if he failed it but everywhere I've seen it seems to have been a paperwork/disagreement between clubs.
In terms of pedigree at the top level, he would appear to be ahead of anyone we've signed since the takeover.
Agreed. A top level player.
I had hoped that anyone we signed at CM would be on a permanent, because of the lack of interchangeability in those positions compared with our front four, and also because we need longer term replacements for Morsy and, more pressingly, Luongo. Maybe we still will get another CM in on a permanent, who knows?
But a minor quibble really - quality signing who is Prem ready.
You may well be right, that sort of thing has definitely happened in the past.
That's what my friend working with Swedish u21s also mentioned. Brentford got cold feet during the medical due to a few previous documented injuries and hesitated. They wanted to give themselves a better deal but Napoli were having none of it.
However, short term it might be workable and we've seen how we've managed to make the most out of Axel and managed to get clarke through a season with his issues.
Reminds me of the questions around Luongo before he signed.
With him and Tuanzebe it seems we're confident in managing any issues if the player fits the profile.

Sounds very likely. Felt an injury was too much of a risk, wanted to renegotiate. Bart's move to Millwall was along those lines, they eventually renegotiated to a loan, then made it permanent for less money in the next window.

Ameobi and Fuller were similar for us back in the day were they not?
And 10 million quid isn't a massive amount. Just asking as some are making him out to be a world-beater. If so, he'd be 30 or 40 million.
Not being dismissive, but he's available for a reason - and for quite a low fee. Was he unable to hold down a place at Napoli?
Conte has basically come in and said he's not in his plans..Not his type of player for whatever reason. He wants to offload to bring in Marco Brescianini. I've heard that he's now going to Milan but Conte has others he wants but basically he's clearing to make room for what suits him.
Looks like a great player, just what we need plus it still leaves us 2 other Prem loans available which will help with ffp as I dont think we can afford to buy all the quality of players we need/ want
And also, to be simplistic, if Brentford and their playing trading model was willing to drop £10m on him then he must be a PL ready player.
We aren’t going to beat more established PL teams to the punch, this deal falling through allows us to do the next best thing (ie sign someone they deemed good enough)
And he was at Brentford’s sister club in Denmark so character must be deemed right as they’ve had him ‘in the building’ so to speak
Well if true that's fked that then. However can't see that being reported anywhere

Why? What makes you think ITFC + McKenna going places aren't attractions for players more than a club that seems to be always struggling with problems?

....to go down.
He's probably never even heard of us to be honest.
I think people are underestimating how difficult it is proving to be to convince decent players to join us, particularly if more established clubs are sniffing around.

Made favs to go down by a lot of people who know nowt about us.
Intelligent players will doi their own research. If they're not intelligent we wouldn't want 'em anyway.

We've missed out on other players already this summer despite that. We're the favourites to go straight back down, despite what any of us may think.

Hmm, hamstring strain for 2 weeks between end of Feb-early March '24.
