I suppose it’s just a momento of the match, a bit like captains exchanging the clubs’ pendants before a match, but for spectators. I’m not sure why someone would want 19 scarves in a season though. Or one in August come to that. It is a bit odd, but I can imagine someone might like one or two if they have a football memorabilia collects (say for our 78 and 81 cup finals).

It’ll be half and half kits next for fans who only want to follow their local side when they’re doing well.

Not for a half and half scarf. That’s a sin, a crime punishable by 20 year’s transportation as far as I’m concerned. Why??

I took a couple of photos pre-match - one of Salah, one of Van Dijk. Apologies for any offence caused but after years of watching players of their calibre on the tv while we were facing the likes of Fleetwood, Lincoln, Rotherham etc it felt quite special to playing Liverpool in the league.

You have to remember that we have a whole generation of fans who never thought this day would happen and we've never been a part of this superstar era of football before, so this stuff will happen and it's totally fine. This is a big thing for so many people. We've never even played the modern incarnation of Man City!

Absolutely. It's not warfare it's game of football and people, football fans - especially kids ,- will want to see household name players close up. It's the same anywhere. As long as people get behind the team in the ground what's the problem.

Right...

Here's my reply to you about your post!!

I am the guy with my son getting the kids Liverpool shirt signed by Arne Slott after the game and let me give you so f'ricking content behind it.

I'm an ex Ipswich academy player of 9 years and moved to Sweden when I was 20. I've lived there now for 16 years and flown back for over 120 home matches during that time. My Swedish son seen with me in this shot is also a devoted Ipswich fan who consistently gets s*** from the kids in his school because he wears his Ipswich shirt with pride and wants to spread our name.

My son's friend is 10 and ill in hospital and we thought it might just brighten his day if we take his Liverpool shirt to Portman Road today to try and get it signed by some of the players..what the f Is wrong with that?? I guess you didn't see the 1 1/2 hours we stood in the same position before the game and my son filling up his own Ipswich shirt with autographs.

So before you go posting your passive aggressive comments about me and my son getting a kids Liverpool shirt signed just think that there maybe certain reasons behind what you see!!!!!!

I suspect most people who enjoy football in its entirety (as opposed to those who prioritise the tribal side of being a fan) would be in the same boat. I’ve been to grounds all over the world and taken plenty of photos of grounds and players, half of which I probably didn’t know.

Jeez. Chill bro.
I don't labeling young fans as disgusting is a good look mate.
The EPL is a huge brand and in some ways we will have sold a little of our soul to get there.
It's all part of modern football.
For what it's worth, I'm 53 and if I got a chance to meet Kev DB I'd probably jump at the chance too.
Doesn't make me less of a town fan.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

You seem a particularly bitter and twisted old fool.

Part of the process of winning over future fans is sharing the limelight with the big boys. It's a multi billion dollar industry it's possible to a) be a town fan and b) be excited by the celebrity element of top top players.

Disgusting? Get a grip.

A couple of times during the warm up I found my 36 year old self reverting to a child by looking at Salah and TAA, and thinking how cool it was. I am beyond excited to see KDB in the flesh.

When we played Man U in the cup a few years back I bought a badge from the club shop, because of how exciting I found Utd growing up. Shoot me.

I’ve had a season ticket for almost 20 years now and absolutely love the Town. I also love football.

Let people enjoy what they want. You don’t get bonus points for being a super fan, but you get negative ones for being a d**k.

What you have to remember is, while we have young fans, we're probably not their No.1 team. They support us locally but they prefer to wear the shirts of the big dogs.

My nephew likes Ipswich, but loves utd. This has to be the aim for town to convince those young fans to want to wear an Ipswich shirt because it's cool.

Kids aren't plastic, they just follow the trends of their friends.

And even if there wasn't this context and someone was just going to sell it online, who cares? just let people enjoy the occasion in the way they want. I don't like half and half scarfs, so I don't buy them, but I don't need to make others feel small because they have a different opinion. Same applies to signing shirts. Seeing a packed out Portman Road in the premiership is a joy.
