Anyone know when TWTD first appeared online ? I’m sure I remember checking it out sometime around 1997 or am I misremembering?

Pretty sure I was regularly online there by 1999, are any posters still using their user name from the first ever sign up ?

I’m sure Phil or Gav can fill in the gaps ?

The only Muff in Town.

I was quite a late arrival, being first shown the site by my brother in probably around '04 or '05. But I have managed to keep the same username throughout.

The timeline of TWTD online is in the About Us tab at the bottom of the page.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I've been on since 98 just before the world cup and I remember my first comment was about Kieran Dyer should be in the England WC squad. I was formerly sandy_itfc until about 10 years. I'm hoping at some point that Phil and Gav will change to These Are The Days for a
spell again.

I was around when you didn’t have a fixed username, so could be anything every time you logged on, but can’t remember the year… I then had a previous username before becoming hopes_and_fears which eventually got shortened to hoppy

I was around in 97. No idea what I called myself then.

I've been here far too long - probably since about 2002. I was originally Northants_Blueboy, but became Fixed_It in the Jim Magilton managerial era. Jim'll Fix It - geddit? Should probably have changed my username when that show became somewhat tarnished, but never got round to it. Maybe I should.

It was during the 2000-01 season I popped up on here as that was when I finally got internet! Think it would've been rivals at that point?

I registered on it very early, around 1999 maybe?, but didn’t post for many years. I’ve never changed the user name. even though I don’t like it much. I really can’t be bothered and only chose it because that was the stand I spent the most time in and the nearest I get to a church is a pint in the dog and duck.

My first post - using just my initials back then – was in August 1996 the day after John Wark's testimonial. My innocent 13-year-old self likened Bobby Petta to Georgi Kinkladze on the back of his performance in the game. I remember asking my dad if it was ok to write a message on the board. Here we are 28 years later!

You are right. It did slow up when America woke up! I bought a home computer in 98 as I was looking for a job and wanted to learn IT. A friend of Mrs C put it all together at a cost of £1500, including printer. It was obvious even then what the possibilities were.

….where your username came from Ryorry.

Assumed it was some sort of obscure Nordic/Jorvik reference.

Disappointingly mundane really.

I reckon the “R” is for Rosemary.

Or Rita.
