Delap is dead on his feet and we only have a league 2 striker on the bench

I didn't think Al Hamadi played too bad when he came on. But due to the way Palace played we should have adjusted much quicker than we did. How many minutes were wasted by Muric hanging on to the ball waiting to pass out to a defender or midfielder. Palace stood off by just enough to allow him to pass the ball out and then pressed immediately. It was only in the second half he started whacking balls upfield. Players need to adjust without having to be told all the time. I do believe though that KM should have brought on another player to help Delap up front and told Muric to hit more long balls. We need to be able to change our play according to the opposition. Another problem was that I felt the crowd was flat because it's easy to get up for a game when you have Man Utd in opposition, but not so easy against a difficult and pretty unattractive side like Palace who set up for a point but were able to grab three. Had we got an early goal it would have been a far different game.

Expectation as well. I think the flattest the crowd have been this season have been against Everton and Palace. Against Leicester, we managed to turn the tide on the pitch which got the crowd going.

Makes you think that Szmodics isn't fully fit.

As for the OP, I don't think the situation is helping Al Hamadi either who could do with playing regular football.

I hope this isn't true, but McKenna was pretty angry with SS for giving the penalty away on Saturday.

Maybe dropped for that reason?

Many forwards are clumsy tacklers, nothing to see here.

I’m sure KMc is his own biggest critic. If KMc is angry with anyone it is with himself.

Doubt we can afford to do that over a silly mistake. Likelihood is he wasn't fully fit/ or we preferred Broadhead for the game.

Undoubtedly so ....

We had £20M to spend on Latte Lath on deadline day so hopefully that money is available again in January.

We desperately need someone to push Delap so that the levels remain throughout the 90 minutes.

This season we just fall off a cliff after half time.

Scored 9 of our goals in first 45 minutes, just 4 in the second half. Compare that to Leicester who have scored 13 of their 19 in the second half, even Southampton have 6 of their 10 in the second half.

I don't think it's a case of pushing Delap. It's a case of giving him a break.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. We want good competition up front, therefore we need a player who is up to his standard so that we can maintain/ improve the level if he needs a break or we need a different option.

Really getting fed up with comments like this on the striker situation. You cannot tell me there wasn't a player in western Europe capable of offering more than Al-Hamadi who'd have jumped at the chance to play in the Premier League.

I could reel off 7-8 names without even having to do any research who'd have been available for £10m-£15m, half of what we were panic-bidding for Latte-Lath on deadline day.

We knew Hirst was brittle/injury-prone, Al-Hamadi's only proven at L2 level and Delap was wholly unproven (and still green in various aspects despite his bright start to the season). Pretty criminal not to get a third senior striker in.

With financial fair play we can't afford to just spunk that sort of money on a player that is not what we want (identified as such). Even if an upgrade on Al Hamadi that spend means we wouldnt have any flex to get the a dual players we want in Jan for example.

Yes ideally we would have landed one of our targets but fact we didn't doesn't mean we spend £10-15 on a player McKenna doesn't think is right because he's on Portmanking list as better than Al-Hamadi.

The issues we have had in key games such as Everton, Forest and Palace are not down to the striker but are instead that we just don't seem to have the skill, strength or guile to break down such teams, especially when they get a lead.

Man City, Leicester, Forest and Everton has shown that FFP is a toothless tiger if you know how to play the game. Even Fulham, Bournemouth and Brentford flirted with FFP limits when they just went up. A 2 or 4 point deduction is worth it if it ensures we have a competitive squad and become a regular Prem club. cf Forest

Dont forget we train with match intensity too hence the high number of injuries we get between games.

Yeah, they are pretty intense, so when you think of the training and then v spurs we ran 81km in the first half alone, that's a lot of running for a side who aren't full of top level athletes, and also shows why an Al Hamadi looked like he was in reverse in his games when he came on, the speed of the prem is absolutely ridiculous.

Are all the clubs doing this "high-intensity training" and is it the norm nowadays?

If not, doesn't seem to benefit us much this season.

Reminds me of how Paul Hurst worked the squad fitness when he just came in, injuries galore just like now.

The top level clubs yes, and it has definately benefited us as we either are still or were until last week top of the most KM run by a team in the prem this season..

It's an interesting one as when players came in under KM they always commented on the increase intensity compared to previous clubs training, so considering KM came from Utd, and the way he wants the team to play, you can imagine that to increase that intensity further this season is crazy.

Your comments remind me of John McEnroe playing at Wimbledon one year, when towards the end of an epic 5-setter, a fan called out from the crowd during the silence as JMc was defending a break point & about to serve - "Come on McEnroe!".

McEnroe paused his serve, looked up at the guy & yelled back
"I'm trying for gods sake!"

Whole crowd erupted with laughter.

We have more issues than that

Agree. But Broja made his debut for Everton last night as a late sub. Clearly we wanted him and should have had an alternative if we were going to pull out of the deal. By the time we did, it was too late to get Latte Lath. All old news, I know. Nothing can be done now till January.
