Wolves experience - miserable bar the result 10:20 - Dec 15 with 6969 viewsnick141

This is obviously secondary to the result, but it should be noted that the away pub was a miserable shambles. Bizarre to only allows fans into one pub and then only have two people behind the bar acting surprised when 1000 people turn up.

Would be a bonus if they have half decent beers too. My friend flew from Berlin for the game and when he asked if they had any local beer, they looked at him like he was a moron and said “Carling”.

Also not an important point, but makes you feel very unwelcome when every other pub has a big “home fans only” sign up.

It was telling that a policewoman’s told me that they have to shut all shops at the station after a game because fans smash everything up, so we couldn’t buy any water. It’s interesting that this doesn’t seem to happen at Ipswich.

If we hadn’t won, it would’ve been a pretty miserable away experience. Makes you appreciate the Greyhound. I hope the railway tavern is better.

Word to the wise....

.....Avoid pubs dedicated or seemingly dedicated to away fans only.

What else would you expect, it's hard enough trying to find a decent pub in Wolverhampton on valentines night, let alone a pub dedicated to away fans on a Saturday.

Not to be a smart arse, but what are you expecting of Wolverhampton away? Proper sh1thole of a city.

Agree that Prince Albert was honking though, and the service / queues were a joke. You would’ve thought given they’ve got 19 match days a year to take some decent money they would’ve wanted to make the most of it, but apparently not. We sacked it off and snuck in to a home fans pub for a couple.

Isn't Carling brewed in Burton-On-Trent? Therefore you could argue given its not far away from Wolverhampton it is local?

There was a Sainsbury's just up the road from the Station ?!? Had no problem getting in the Royal London after being turned away from the Hogshead and there were 9 of us ?? You obviously don't go away enough to understand how you do it 😂😂

Wolves has long been one of the worst away days around.

No pubs, unfriendly locals and an awful away section.

Complete contrast to Forest a couple of weeks ago.

My lad sent me a text from the fantastic Hen and Chickens in Birmingham whilst having a pre match meal and drinky poos.

It's only about 15 mins by train to Wolverhampton

I thought it was much better yesterday than I've seen in the past. Wolves fans I spoke with all decent and I do recognize this is all relative within the Premier League but enjoyed it far more than Man City, Spurs, West Ham as traditional ground with good atmosphere.

Unfortunately all football fans are treated the same regardless if they are calm and sensible or out to cause trouble. Like many we didn't hang around in the long queue and I quite enjoyed the Pravha pilsner at the ground, it was above average football ground beer.

Great isn't it - although I still prefer The Sportsman in West Brom.

New Soho Tavern still comes up tops in many reviews but I'm not sure. I'm up that way for a week in Feb so I'll give them all a TW4TD review

Towen fans, with colours, were welcomed into and served beer in the fanzone yesterday.

No idea why they didn't publicise it in the fan guides.

All very civil from what I saw.

Painting a brighter picture, I like it up North. Wolverhampton is a small town with a big name and has fallen on hard times. I was surprised there were so few pubs. Food stalls outside were decent but they needed more staff on the bars inside.
The ground is a proper ground (West Ham being the worst I've been to) but packing us in the side is a shame - seemed like there were three singing sections as consequence. The curve on the stand did give a better view of the pitch.
I saw no animosity afterwards at the station or en-route which made a nice change to the running battles in the 70's.

indeed it is, though the correct answer would have been Banks, unfortunately the bean counters at Carlsberg Marstons have decided to close the Banks brewery instead of celebrating their 150th year, and are stop making most of their beers.

The best Hong about The Prince Albert as an away pub…

It’s a home pub after the game. Tried to get a beer before the train home, asked if we were away fans obviously said yes as the away pub and told it is now home fans.

Laughable city.
