I can't be added paying attention to transfer fees anymore. Everyone's got too much money I don't feel like it really means much anymore. It was fun when you had the first £50/80/100m player or whatever, but now it's just monopoly money.
On Delap I'm at the stage I'm basically looking forward to seeing what he does on a bigger stage in a different shirt, while enjoying him while he's with us. He feels a little bit above our level so I won't be 'gutted' as such when he goes, because he'll deserve it.
That Chelsea game was probably the best centre forward performance I can remember live from a Town player, definitely in terms of raw attributes. |  |

lost 30% or more of its value since 2020 after they printed so much of it.
So someone earning £60'000 now is £40000 worth of spending power in 2020.
conversely a player transferred for £60m in 2019 would be £90m now. |  |

Usual twtd thread. 10 posts only one responds on the actual question. Considering no one here has any say in how others value him nor how much cash there is available to spend, it’s pretty certain we will be looking to recover significant money without PL status, even with PL status players will continue to be sold when valued highly amongst competition.
60m plus and we are all happy as we can be to lose a player of this talent. 40m plus and we’ve doubled our money in one season, that’s good business but leaves value on the table for someone else to benefit from. | |

I do feel it's unfortunate that there is no loyalty either way these days, it's just all about the readies. A merry-go-round of cash sloshing about. I fully appreciate Gamechanger 20 who basically saved us from oblivion and has raised the profile of our club 1000%, but at the end of the day they aren't doing this just for the love of it. Let’s face it , if there’s value to be had from a resale then City will come back in for whatever is in the contract and sell him on just the same as Villa did with Philogene.
Why would they allow us to earn an extra 10:or 20;million when they can have it .
All of these posts about what’s in the contract is pointless.. let’s give credit to Ashton and Mckenna, they knew how good he was and will have negotiated the best deal they could to get him here ..
If we can stay up Delap may choose to stay here another season and further his development as a young striker under KM.
If not then . We take what we can out of the deal and move on.

There isn't much to worry about in this situation really.
Delap will either be bought back by Man City for £30m-£40m, or will be sold in the open market for probably around £50m-£60m. We will make a substantial profit on the player regardless.
He's a joy to watch lead the line, a real throwback, a real handful, an all round really talented young player. Of course he is still raw, and has lots of development but he is ability and qualities are undoubted.
Love watching him as our number 9, will be gutted the day he leaves, but would go with very best wishes for his future career. |  | | |

There are 2 things which will effect whether we can get absolutely top money for Delap in the summer, when he inevitably leaves
- The buy back/matching rights/Cities interest and how that is worded in the deal
- Whether we are in the PL or not.

Gittens has played top flight football across 3 seasons, played champions league in each of those seasons scored goals in the champions league and played 90 odd games and scored 16 goals all at the highest level. Florian Wirtz has played 5 top flight seasons, multiple European appearances, and been capped 29 games for Germany.
Sorry for the statto trip, but come on they're not even comparable. Delap could have amazing stats one day, but he's currently had 2/3rds of one top flight season looking great. I definitely want a decent fee but £85million is a tad silly, and people overvaluing leads to annoyance down the line that we somehow got robbed or made mistakes. |  | | |

Quite. Plus it’s a bit daft to settle on a rough figure now. He’s got enough time left this season to push on a bit more. If he does that and scores quite a few more goals, the sky’s the limit for him. He’s positioned to be the next big name of English strikers. If he keeps progressing, then I can easily someone coming in and paying top dollar for him (so those £80-100M figures might not be a total fantasy). |  |
