Agree with others on this thread that context is key. A bit of banter about men not seeing stuff and women not being able to park, etc is mostly harmless humour, but he really should have been more careful here.
If you think about how well respected women referees and umpires are in sports like snooker and tennis, and think about what might happen if someone made this comment in those sports, it would cause a lot more fuss.
Fact is, perhaps women's attention to detail is an advantage in the game, and perhaps, also, their lack of ego, as some high profile male refs seem to have made the match more about them than the teams on the pitch, is something to be appreciated.
As a women, I am not particularly offended by what he said, but equally unsurprised.

Well, yes. "Banter" is an over used and over abused word.
I grew up with a younger brother who used to criticise my driving, my weight, anything he could to get 'one-up' on his sister, who was older, wiser, and could beat him at argument. Perhaps banter belongs in the school playground. I don't knock it. We all have to grow a thick skin, but it would be nice to think that adults can behave respectfully, especially in environments where their comments can go viral on social media. Accountability and responsibility are hard worked for qualities

And the matey with the yellow labels has hopefully stickered something tasty in Tesco
I hunt for these bargains, gather them in my basket and dutifully queue at the checkout
I like to think of myself as the modern hunter/gatherer
Feel free to visit Yorkshire & have a pop at the pigeons leaving mounds of their c r a p on every gate, latch, path, step, piece of washing, outdoor furniture etc. on a daily basis
Footnote: I bought a pack of filleted pigeon breasts from local butcher a month ago - finger-lickin' tasty :)
