But this is a professional issue.
He is a football manager who will have very strict rules to follow and he clearly has not followed them. I could not make this joke in my workplace, the overwhelming majority of people could not and would not make that joke in their workplace. And if I/they did, action would swiftly follow.
If Kieran Mckenna made that joke, he would be disciplined. Just because this bloke has made himself some edgy figure of fun doesn't mean he is above the rules. He went on camera and did something which is obviously against the rules. It is against the rules because there are plenty of women who don't find this stuff funny. I'm sure as you say some don't care, but lots will so it makes sense for this sort of 'banter' to not be allowed in a professional setting.

Something missing in the OP is that Marc and Dorking have a lot of recent history when it comes to the FA. Just prior to the season ending, their match footage provided controversial tweets regarding officiating in a game, and he's also been quite vocal about other matters across the past few seasons. He's a very marmite type character who has a lot of positive followers in lower league football but likewise a fair number who don't. And I don't believe personally the 6 game ban is based solely around this one comment. |

It’s because it’s not about the era you were born in, it’s just a form of anti-intellectualism.
I know lots of people I’ve played football with and/or grown up with who hold similarly context stripped, simplistic, factually incorrect views. They’re not bad people, just tremendously thick.

Without a time machine it's difficult to know init. Most knowledge/research on the issue would be based on 'similar' modern hunter gatherer groups. How similar modern hunter gatherer groups from say South America were to our own mesolithic hunter gatherer ancestors is the unknown element.

There is a hypothesis that one of the key differences between us and a lot of animals (especially other apes and predators) is our ability to run for long distances and basically chase animals to their death, even in cases where we are physically outmatched. I remember reading the findings of some anthropologist a few years ago now, I can't remember where in the world his research was based.
But though he went along with the theory that men did the majority of the hunting in the tribe he was studying. Though he pointed out that 90+% of the food provided for the tribe was provided by women.
So though men were off doing the majority of the hunting it was the gathering, processing, occasional hunting etc of the women of the tribe that feed everyone.
Think the men were just after the big glory kill. But you'da starved to death if you relied on um to feed the kids etc. | | | |
