Al Hamadi 10:40 - Aug 9 with 1862 views | The_Romford_Blue | He's like an over-excited terrier. We know he wasn’t good enough for the Premier league. And there’s no guarantee he will be good enough for the championship even. And he may even be sold this window. But while we have him as an option off the bench, he might just show something. There’s a player in there but for all his running, his last second decision making is so often awry. I can’t help but think McKenna could coach it out of him to be more decisive. If he does, there’s definitely something there. His energy and willingness to try and try and try ought to be commended. He came on yesterday and you could see him wanting to change the game. If there’s any player this season I’d love to see go on a scoring run and gain confidence, it would be him.

Al Hamadi on 10:47 - Aug 9 with 1590 views | jasondozzell | I would absolutely keep him and have him on the bench. Fed up of people on here moaning about him. Young striker, still learning, has given his all and he affects games when he comes on more than people realise. Thought his running and bustling style last night caused them trouble. Nice chorus of his song at the end which he appreciated.
Al Hamadi on 10:49 - Aug 9 with 1569 views | NedPlimpton | In a couple of weeks time it's likely to be Akpom coming off the bench rather than Ali, which is obviously a massive step up. Don't think you'll find many better 3rd choice strikers in this division than Ali to be honest [Post edited 9 Aug 10:55]

I thought that was one of his best appearances and he made difference on 10:49 - Aug 9 with 1561 views | unstableblue | I’ve been quite a critic of Ali and who can forget the penalty miss. But his finishes in pre season were excellent. And I liked his performance last night on the right and a lot of what he was doing. Yes at times the lack of real technical polish showed. But if you asked the Brum players he was up against he was a real handful.

Al Hamadi on 10:52 - Aug 9 with 1517 views | Garv | The fact he's still there speaks volumes I think, and that's a compliment. He came from League Two to a championship promotion winning team, played in the PL albeit a handful of times, got a loan to a championship club, and it's set to be third choice in (hopefully) another promotion winning team. He's clearly got some mental toughness about him, and I think he's got enough in the way of attributes to prove useful.

Al Hamadi on 10:52 - Aug 9 with 1517 views | seblue78 | He’s got significant physical attributes and a decent amount of pace. He also seems to have a knack of making things happen/being in the right place. The obvious issue is his decision making at times and finishing. Those are things that can be coached and he’s already developed since coming, he wasn’t good enough for the prem. hes 100% good enough to be our third striker in the champ

Totally agree. He’s fine as a third choice striker and can play the wide roles as an impact sub. Teams are going to have to work really hard against us so the last 20 minutes will be a fertile area for us. Direct runners are the last thing our opponents are going to want to see

He has a wonderful knack of squirming free with the ball when he shouldnt do, which surprises defenders. Finishes well. Strong and agressive. He has been unfairly maligned by many. We have yet to see if he can be what we need. Not really had the chance. Last night, his only failure to do the right thing came from what was clearly a slip rather than bad choices. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Al Hamadi on 11:11 - Aug 9 with 1265 views | TractorJack | I think like we saw in the promotion season he does at least have the ability to unsettle opposition from the bench. Very frustrating at times though, perfect example was when he got in to the box, manages to beat the defender but then loses balance himself and passes it straight back to them.

Hardly his fault that he slipped. Seriously- people will use anything to criticise certain players.

Not really a criticism just said it's frustrating to watch and pretty typical of him. You don't think staying balanced is an important part of dribbling?
Al Hamadi on 11:30 - Aug 9 with 1072 views | bsw72 | He reminds me of a less experienced Jackson with more pace and slower decision making. Coach the second more and we have a competent player to come on and use pace against tiring sides.

It wasn't a balance issue, his foot slipped from under him while changing direction. On modern, over-watered (often semi-synthetic weave) pitches, that happens to everyone.

Al Hamadi on 11:31 - Aug 9 with 1046 views | SomethingBlue | He looked alright last night, I thought. Fit and sharp, certainly compared to last season. At the moment he's all we've got so it was good to see him get a bit of love at the end from the fans.

Agree with you, it wasnt his fault, but as a point of order did anyone else notice they only watered their attacking half at half time and not our attacking half?
Al Hamadi on 11:41 - Aug 9 with 929 views | Trequartista | He looked ok, just lost his footing at the wrong time during that good move we made. He's still only 23 so still potential to improve.

Al Hamadi on 12:11 - Aug 9 with 772 views | textbackup | Having him as an option off the bench is a failure on the recruitment team. Point proved on two occasions in 10mins last night along. So lovely one touch stuff, got it into him… he completely loses any composure and the ball/move is gone. So frustrating we’ve put ourselves in this position. He’s a good lad, but miles off it

Al Hamadi on 12:14 - Aug 9 with 743 views | Nutkins_Return | Thought he tried to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and impact. Wasn't in his position and he made more impact than others. He did everything right when he took the ball in the area and if he hadn't if slipped I reckon he scores. He's raw but his fight and desire lifted us last night. Happy if he stays. otherwise we need a big upgrade

Al Hamadi on 12:40 - Aug 9 with 624 views | GlasgowBlue | He works best as third choice striker to come on and cause disruption in the final 15 minutes if thing saren't going to plan.

He should be nowhere near the first team squad, hopelessly out of his depth. The fact that he is near the first team is only down to a recruitment failure , as you say.

McKenna sending a signal to the board in the same way he did putting Harry Clarke in midfield against Aberdeen?

I don’t think KM would behave in that way. I’d like to think there’s an open line of comms daily between him and them. But we are in need of some help in certain areas

And ended the game with Jack Taylor and Cam Humphreys on the pitch.

That was happening whilst our multi million pound stars were on the pitch as well. You could be referring to Matusiwa, Ogbene Clarke, Szmodics, Hirst. Albeit not big money signings, but Johnson, Davis, Taylor and Hirst mucked up moves last night as well. Al-Hamidi gave us an outlet, a spark. Yes, we may sign someone who is seen as an upgrade, but he did fine last night.
