We have a parachute squad, and should be challenging for Top 2 all season. If Ashton doesnt get a CF sorted, then he has failed massively this summer.

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 13:32 - Aug 26 by SomethingBlue | Left-back who is happy to come in and share some minutes/be eventual Leif replacement would also be a big plus. One of these days Leif will pick up an injury that he can't shrug off in time for the next game and we'll be in a spot of real bother. |
Just a hunch, but I have a feeling we go for Iling-Junior from Villa. Recently been playing left back, but can also play in any of the positions behind the striker.
Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 14:42 - Aug 26 with 1854 views | tractorboy1978 | What strikers have we been linked with this window? Early on it was Guiu and Mubama but there has been a real dearth recently, Azon aside. A couple of posts above suggesting terms of that deal could change but McKenna seemed pretty adamant he wouldn't be here this window. Feels like if we sign someone it is going to come from left field and be a name we haven't heard yet. There have been loads of decent CMs linked but for varying reasons doesn't look like any of those (Hackney, Miley, Billing, Christie) are going to happen. I worry that whoever we end up is going to be big downgrade on any of those. I'd like to think if we are willing to spend the best part of £20m on Egeli, we are confident we have good options lined up in both of the positions above though. As I'd argue they are bigger priorities right now. [Post edited 26 Aug 14:45]

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 13:33 - Aug 26 by Kieran_Knows | If we sign Egeli I don’t think we get another striker, he’ll turn out to be this seasons Delap. Hirst, Sindre and Akpom who can all cover striker? Won’t need another will we? |
However good he is, we can’t rely on a 19 year old. He will take a season to settle. He isn’t the instant sticking plaster if that’s what everyone is thinking.

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 13:32 - Aug 26 by bsw72 | Possibly but zebras are fascinating animals known for their unique black and white stripe patterns, which help with individual recognition and may repel biting insects. They live in social groups called harems or herds, where strong bonds and communication through vocalizations and body language are vital for protection and social interaction. As herbivores, they primarily graze on grasses but will also eat leaves and stems when needed. Zebras can run at speeds up to 65 km/h (40 mph) to escape predators and typically live around 20-25 years in the wild. Native to Africa, they inhabit savannas, grasslands, and open woodlands, showcasing remarkable agility and social complexity. |

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 15:53 - Aug 26 with 1478 views | GlasgowBlue | I think we need 2 CM's. One as back up to Matusiwa and a playmaker in the style of Hackney. edit. And will Hirst and another be enough up front? It only takes and injury to one and we have problems. Left too many key positions too late to do the business we need imo. [Post edited 26 Aug 16:04]

We haven’t had a playmaker in the last 3 years, we’ve been our most effective with 2 Lads who can handle the physical stuff and keep the ball moving.

Egeli, plus a CM and a CF.... on 14:30 - Aug 26 by textbackup | Is he physically up to the challenge of playing ST in the championship? That Millwall ST seems such an obvious choice for us to go and get, but clearly doesn’t tick certain boxes that we look for. |
I’m sure he does but Millwall are going to want 20 million quid which is an awful lot of money regardless of how good we think he is.

Totally agree, for me Ivanovic seems the obvious choice. Just can’t see us spending circa £15m on Egeli, and then similar money on Ivanovic. Suspect our 2 ‘money’ signings will be Egeli and a centre mid, with 2 loan players.

Do people genuinely think we don’t need an Omari replacement. It’s absolutely crucial we get an Omari type profile in the squad. If not that right hand side is going to really struggle.

Hamer at £15m seems such an obvious choice too… But no idea on wages, so that’s likely the issue

And there's the problem, Hurst isn't a natural scorer seems off it to me, Last two games flogged him all match not a McKenna tactic no choice, One area we struggle and struggle, where's Marcus Stewart when you need him,

We just spent £10m+ of McAteer for the right hand side? Not saying he's the same profile. [Post edited 26 Aug 17:50]

I wouldn't be comfortable with that.... on 14:09 - Aug 26 by Bloots | ...to be honest. I've watched Egeli a couple of times now and he's definitely a right sided attacker, rather than a centre forward. One of the only negative things you can say about KM is when he tries to shoehorn players into a formation/position that doesn't suit their game. We really, really need a proper CF to take some weight off Hirst, ideally someone better than him obviously. |
We do need someone better than Hirst. As hard as that is for some to,take.

Egeli won't count on squad numbers. One CM is as must and then hopefully another no 9 but one of those will be a young prem loan and be signed obout 6.30pm next Monday. I think Wolf goes, Baggot stays and Humphreys too. Townsend not registered and possibly Burns too until January. Button may not be registered and Henry Gray (?) as 3rd choice to free up a space. Does that make 25?

We did, and he is a fine squad player. He can rotate in when needed. But we also have a bid in for a left footed, right sided player who likes to do a lot of things that Omari did for an even bigger fee. McAteer, doesn't have the athletic traits to be our first choice on that side. If we dont sign a another winger/10, we look short to me. [Post edited 26 Aug 18:14]
