All quiet on Egeli front... 11:35 - Aug 28 with 8171 views | BlacknGoldnBlue | With the news of our Norfolk raid and now plundering the WBA defence some more, there hasn't been any more news on Egeli... I wonder if we're still persueing him or decided to invest the money in proven options? Is no news good news or are we about to get a triple reveal of signings today or tomorrow? It certainly isn't boring

All quiet on Egeli front... on 11:37 - Aug 28 with 4805 views | NthQldITFC | I seriously hope we are still pursuing him - along with Matusiwa and McAteer he'd be on a development track for the PL next season, I think, whereas some of the other (albeit necessary) signings might not be.

We still had a substantial bid in play after the Mcateer signing. The player even confirmed it. So cant see that being the case.

All quiet on Egeli front... on 11:42 - Aug 28 with 4617 views | LankHenners | Social media and 24hr news has made people think that if something's quiet for a bit then nothing's happening. We know what the situation is - we're interested in the player, he's interested in moving, and the clubs are thrashing out a deal. Until either that's done or it completely falls apart, there's no news to announce.

We signed McAteer on Thursday. On Monday Egeli confirmed “Yes, I know there’s a bid, then it's up to the clubs and see if they can agree". If we had moved on, he would have been notified and he would not have been talking like that.
All quiet on Egeli front... on 11:50 - Aug 28 with 4422 views | hunty21 | We better be as no other striker or forward apart from Hirst of quality and would rather him than 3.5m on a squad player unlike ashton not to negotiate this deal down
All quiet on Egeli front... on 11:54 - Aug 28 with 4319 views | Everydayblue | Weren't his club trying to sign a replacement first? I'm sure Phil would have posted something if the deal had broken down. Looking at his physique at such a young age, and the talk of him being converted to a striker. Then, perhaps he'd be signed as a potential understudy to Hirst, as well as playing RW. Could be the cherry on top of an active week in the window? That's what I'm hoping for. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
All quiet on Egeli front... on 11:55 - Aug 28 with 4287 views | ThatMuhrenCross | I'd be astonished if we weren't still in for him. Whilst many of the others are "proven" Championship quality to help us with the here and now, he's very much an "investment". May well do well now, but more signed with half an eye on turning a future profit.

Plus, if a permanent signing, he doesn't take up a slot in the squad whe we have to register it.

All quiet on Egeli front... on 13:13 - Aug 28 with 3858 views | Joey_Joe_Joe_Junior | If our answer for selling Omari is McAteer for 12M while Southampton get fellows for 10M and this deal goes quiet I’ll be underwhelmed. I’ve seen a good amount of McAteer and he runs non stop, decent player but not beat you out wide type and personally think we’ve overpaid, especially when I’ve seen Fellows at this level, who I’d rate as a better player. Not to say McAteer might not do very well for us but he isn’t a get you off you’re seat type either. If we are out on a really exciting signing with huge ceiling I’d be very disappointed tbh.

Bad comparison as this one has been linked all over, just gone quiet last few days. It's no great surprise we got Nunez, McAteer and Furling done fast considering the fees we were offering tbh.

I think they have (or at least have a player lined up).

Think if it was completely dead one of the Scandinavian journalists who reported on it initially would have put something out saying that.

He's a nine as well. Played there for his old team. His current team has used him as a winger. Possibly another Akpom. Slightly disappointed if we're not bringing in at least another central midfielder. Do any of them (Nunez included) have the attributes to cover for Matusiwa?

We did make a bid, that was widely confirmed before the McAteer, whether we maintained that offer after signing McAteer is a different matter. You can retract your offer.

Well Egeli seemed to imply it was still in-play on Monday, three days after McAteer signed, so... If McAteer is truly our Omari replacement I think my head will join the Budgies on Mars.

Watson alluded on his podcast that i was listening to on my commute earlier than McKenna is taking time to think it over. Paraphrasing but said the manger like to think over these things over, even when the deal is in place, this is my understanding here. Just do it KMC! Nike. [Post edited 28 Aug 16:56]

I was told last week that KMac was taking his time over signing-off on the deal.

To be honest I trust the PSV scouts and other European links over a good year in the champ for the likes of Jack Clarke. Really hope it's not us that turn this down. Even if it doesn't work out I like the ambition with this one compared to some of the others. [Post edited 28 Aug 17:00]
