i wonder how the new form of green party will do in many of the areas where it prospered in 2024. in suffolk, where it did well, a lot of the vote was the traditional eco wing of the libdems. i can't see them sticking with swp infused version we've now got.

It's always been pretty left wing, and someone who knows about such things said today on the radio that it's strength is in urban areas, and that the two seats it won in rural areas were really outliers.

Having said that, the relatively small market town I live in in Kent has been green for some time.

No issue with the greens winning. I'd rather Labour had won and I'm please Reform didn't.

I'm critical of a racially divisive campaign. Were you supportive when Goldsmith ran a similar campaign against Khan? If not ten you are guilty of excusing dog whistle politics when it gets the result you want.

My mum spent the last 4 years of her life in a nursing home.
The final 2 years she had dementia.
Those residents who were up for it, filled in their postal votes.
I was told by a resident carer that the manager dealt with the rest.
The carer was a bit miffed 'cos the manager was die-hard NHS and voted Labour on behalf of the incapacitated patients.
I was OK with that but Labour still didn't win the local election.

As per, that's exactly what's happened here.


It's the Trump playbook too, always has been. Make crap up, get people panicking, sow dissent and confusion, then move on completely ignoring what was said and let everybody catch up to the next commotion. It's tiring, has no political purpose other than distraction and noise, and ultimately destroys trust in all politicians and processes, clearing the ground for a right wing agenda to simply be constructed into the void.

Trump is struggling a bit with that on the main stage now, as he finds it's hard to throw a few missiles, blow up a girls' school, cause confusion then move on as funnily enough other people are not moving on.

At the level of Farage and Ipswich, it has worked perfectly and he can stir the pot a bit more, poke a few sticks at other clubs (ie Sunderland) just to get some noise in places he may want to create a cloud, and then forget it all and move onto his next headline-grabbing stunt.
