Play Offs! If that's where we end up 16:06 - Mar 9 with 2319 viewsVic

how confident are you of winning them?

I'm confident of getting to the final - we really can, and I'd say do, beat most teams over two legs. The final is a lottery, but I'd be confident we have the players to win.

I said the same a few weeks back to a mate

I believe we can beat anyone over two games but my worry is the one off final

I guess that's why we pay the big bucks

On a scale of 1-10 in a one off final , I'd suggest a strong 7 out of 10 obviously depending who it's against and their form at that time

As you say Vic ..... Lottery innit

If we do land in the play-offs, we are likely to have the second leg at PR through finishing 3rd or at worst in all likelihood 4th. I will be nervous if we are trailing 1-0 from the first leg knowing how most teams set up down here.

Really don't fancy Wrexham either.

If we were to finish third based on the current table (i.e. winning our game in hand) I think I'd fancy us.

I agree with other comments about being able to beat anyone over two legs, which would then set up a final against either Millwall or Hull, either of whom I don't think I'd be too worried about at Wembley.

The question is whether Southampton manage to gatecrash things. If we end up in the play-offs, I can very much see Wrexham dropping out. They play Coventry and Boro in their final two fixtures - if they win those they'll end up in the playoffs, but their wins will likely help us to second place.

If they don't win those two, I can see them being pipped by someone else, but the points handed to Coventry and Boro will consign us to third.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Depends

If we scored first. Very confident

If we didn't. None at all

I don't think anyone in the mix would want to face us over two games, you'd fancy our quality to come out over 180 minutes. So like you I'd be confident of Wembley but after that it would depend on the opponent. If Wrexham or Millwall it would be one hell of a cup tie feel and we'd have to be able to handle that.

If we can avoid Wrexham, that would be useful. If we can maintain our consistency, then I would be confident. Need three good performances in a row. We haven't done that many times this season.

It's a fool's errand to show confidence when in the playoffs.

On our day we can beat anyone in the division, but equally we have it in us to lose to anyone.

This. We could win all three games 3-0. But we could lose both legs of the semi final very easily too. We really need to find the ridiculous consistency of the 22/23 (nine wins and two draws from the last 11) run in. I don't think the 23/24 record (six wins, three draws and two defeats) will be nearly enough for top two.

It's not a lottery, you've literally got 3 games to get to the PL in tournament football. How an earth is that a lottery.

Same goes for penalty shootouts.

We would be the best team in there so why not, I would not want Southampton as they are on fire atm.

We are prone to soft goals and can be toothless at our worst which is concerning

I don't want to be too dramatic but the playoffs concern me. We are a little less resilient than some of the teams that we may come up against.
No doubt we have classier players but I question our ability to bully other teams and without a striker who regularly scores that's a problem also.
Although I am not his biggest fan I cannot understand why we didn't try to get Jamie Vardy,

....they tend benefit teams in decent form at the end of the season and just by being in them it's doubtful we will be at the top of our game.

Also they are usually full of ups and downs and unpredictability, they don't really benefit teams with very set and predictable game plans.

We won't change our style to fit a game and we rarely change anything in-game when the chips are down.

Top two or bust for me.

With a game over 2 legs you have to fancy us. The final on a decent surface and a big pitch again you’d have to fancy us. No guarantees though so obviously a top two finish is the goal. We don’t seem to have to consistently currently to get that run going to do this. Hopefully the run starts but April looks a tough month that will define us. Excited to be involved despite the some negativity from others. Coyb

I'm more confident of automatic promotion now, than I would be of winning the playoffs if that's where we end up.

That one time aside, our playoff record is astonishingly bad, failing to even reach the final in any other attempt.

One could argue it’s felt like we haven’t been in-form this season, or out of form. Just kinda plodding along. But here we are and autos is still in our hands. Albeit with a bitch of an April ahead. Strange season in many ways. And yet, a million times better than being 15th under Evans.

Think we have lost every shootout with McKenna as well. Not that we were likely that bothered about League cup games.

The final really would not be a lottery - it's just a trend to say that. With the huge pitch some of our players could have a field day. We'd be big favorites.

It’s such weird saying, why would tournament football be a lottery. Is it just because the 3rd place team don’t always go up?

As footie fans we love to look at history, but really hose playoffs 8n Burleys time, or even the one E FFT in Micks time have absolutely no bearing on e present. Different players, different manager different everything. We can do it!
