According to the Boro forum - the two other clubs that have since reported they were spied on was Ipswich and Wrexham.
No idea if any truth in it but they seem to be saying it is us two. If you’re Wrexham, after losing 5-1 you could argue it derailed your season
If all 3, turn out to be upheld, how can Southampton be allowed to go up?

Having seen the majority of the two play off games, Boro if anything shaded it and had so many gilt edged chances in particularly the first game that they could have buried it there and then. No amount of spying makes a professional miss the number of good chances they create. Similarly we undoubtedly should have sewn up promotion at their place as well.
Seems as well that whoever this guy was from southampton, he was just standing on a bit of public ground next to a tiny fence at the training ground and not exactly undercover. Still, whatever punishment they decide who cares? I think if they're kicked out of the play offs then Hull should go up automatically though. |

Its relatively private, mature trees and hedges surround most of it. Maybe from the school sports centre you could get a view, but I've not been up there for years so not sure what access is like there. |  | | |

I suppose spying on a club is classed as watching their training, set pieces etc. But scouts, managers etc have been to games to look over the opposition for years.
I really don't get the need for that type of sussing out of your opponents. There are only so many ways you can take corners, free kicks etc and at some stage they will be tried in a match.
With so much coverage of games on tv an opposing manager doesn't even need to leave the comfort of his home. |
Given they seem to have gone to lengths in order to do it, and they are the people who do this for a living, don't you think they may know better than you about the advantages? |  |

The visual spying is one thing, but this was a high tech surveillance operation, with footage being sent back & a listening device that could pick up instructions given from quite a distance away.
If ourselves and/or Wrexham can substantiate the claims that they were at it well before the playoff game with Boro, there is no way that they should be promoted, regardless of the result v Hull in the final. | |

Ball boys have been coached for years to return the ball quickly or slowly depending on who’s ball it was and the situation of the game.

The real issue here isn't how much influence the so called spying had on the actual outcomes of the matches, it's that they deliberately broke the rules in an attempt to gain an unfair advantage.
They cheated because they thought it would swing things in their favour.
They should be punished severely in order that no other club is tempted to try the same thing in the future. Award the first leg to 'Boro 3-0. |  | | |

Yep, technology, that's the difference maker. Those of us of a certain age will remember training taking place behind the West Stand, and basically anyone could watch - did it myself a few times during the John Duncan era if I was down there to buy a ticket etc. (You could even get in the stands - an eerie experience if you're literally the only person in there).
But the only way anyone would completely remember what the team was doing would be if you were making notes, and if you were seen scribbling in a notepad, I have no doubt you'd either be asked to leave, or David Linighan would just chin you. |  | | |

Whatever the outcome of this I hope it's given the club some food for thought about how we go about match preparation at the training ground. Maybe some extra technology needs installing to prevent surveillance, listening in devices. More security staff. | | | |
