There will be many that view this and underwhelming. Coupled with his Norwich connections, many expected much more. Understand there will be LOTS that will take a LONG time to warm to him.

Football forums are about people having different opinions. That usually means we can disagree, but calling others who support the same team 'delusional' may not be the best way to debate! You and a few others seem pretty sure (actually absolutely certain!) he'll fail. He might, but he might not. Im going to another and see!

Nunez played double the amount of games for them but we seem to do alright celebrating him For me it's underwhelming but thr norwich connections don't really factor in at all. He played for them for a couple of seasons, wouldn't say he is a deep blooded canary

| Some of you need to read the room and accept it on 21:57 - Jun 19 with 705 views | burnbudgiesburn | This reads like an entitled child stamping its feet denying the reality that it's time for bed! Like, what does 'won't accept it' actually mean? Live in denial GON is not ITFC's new manager? Throw tomatoes at him? Boo and hiss at the telly when he appears? It's a very 'meh' appointment, i'm hardly doing cartwheels but I give every manager a chance to prove themselves at this club regardless of what they've done prevously. I can at least see the logic in this, and if we are going to be in a relegation fight from minute one then evidence suggests he's probably more suited to that fight than Mckenna showed last time. | | | |

And ultimately goes one of two ways - it's a good appointment and they have to take back their little tantrum about it or it's a bad appointment and we're all still miserable but, slow hand clap, they get to be miserable and right! I'm sure it'll be a great comfort.

But realistically, he was ill have plenty of opportunities for Interviews and Press Conferences before a ball is kicked, and it is inevitable that both what he says, and how he comes across, will be analysed and judged. And there will be recruitment between now and the start of the season, and that matters and is an important part of his job. So that will be analysed and judged, too. So, sorry, but it is both inevitable, and not unreasonable, that he will be judged before a ball is kicked.

| Some of you need to read the room and accept it on 20:47 - Jun 19 by Kieran_Knows | I tell you what would be this bloody revolutionary idea … how about we get behind the manager of Ipswich Town Football Club? |
Not a bad idea. At least Bobby Robson was several matches into his reign before a sizeable number of fans wanted him gone. Small error of judgement I'd say! Now we want someone gone before he's even arrived! The time to judge will be well into next season, not 2 months before a ball is kicked in anger. Give the guy a chance I say and back him, you never know, something revolutionary might just happen!
| Some of you need to read the room and accept it on 02:56 - Jun 20 with 406 views | Kropotkin123 | Norwich connections coming into it are hypocritical and tedious. People love Nunez for leaving them and joining us, but now we are meant to dislike someone else because of it. Underwhelming, sure. People are going to rate some managers and not others. That doesn't mean you can't accept and decision and support the manager at the beginning. | |

Yup, I freely admit that I have no clue when it comes to predicting who would truly makes a good manager at our club. I was excited for the appointments of Hurst, and, even though I wasn't keen on him as a person, I was also excited about what Keane could do for us. Equally, I was feeling rather meh about the hires of Royle, McCarthy and McKenna at the time. Which is exactly how I feel about O'Neil. In short don't ask me if he's likely to be a success, but I'm prepared to give him a good go before I start grumbling.

My choice at the time was all in on Jack Ross who has seemingly also gone dark in the management world (Head of football strategy at the toon now). That said, when Hurst was appointed I was excited, until the torrent of L1 signings flooded in and he seeming pilled of Waghorn etc. I am also unsure on O'Neil and OGS has a lot to prove also. But hey ho, if my expectations are low now then its going to be easier to be impressed, so there is that.
