You can see how he gets the best from players though by being human and caring about interacting and feeling comfortable enough to go off piste. Should be common but sadly isn't

And is one of the big things missing from Lambert according to his players/ex-players. That show of humanity/joking with players.

Brilliant. I have a lot of time for Sean Dyche. He's done an amazing job at Burnley and always comes across as a good bloke.
I wanted us to hire him when we got Mick, purely because of his character. Wouldn't have thought he'd still be at Burnley to this day, definitely reckon he could have achieved similar success with us.

Not the most attractive football, but it's a fantastic job he's done.
You see they are down near the bottom and you think oh they could be in trouble, then you remember who their manager is and you think, they'll be alright.
That's the highest compliment i can give him and his team, i don't mind watching them despite their football not being great, you know they will give you a bloody hard game and you will need to work hard for a win.

Was such a good watch.
Follow up with this if you get a chance.
Around the 31 minute mark he says that his philosophy is to give players the chance to become better than he was.
Next time Lambert says that he played for massive clubs and won the Champions League, Watson needs to ask him:
"So you really know what it takes to succeed as a midfielder. How do you work to make Andre Dozzell or Teddy Bishop as good as or better than you were?"

Doesn't look like a real press conference to me. Where's the bit where he does the death stare, or moan about how negative the the press and the fans are? Not enough excuses either for it to be real.

Can't think who the player was, but he was on Sky the other night talking abut Lambert at Villa and exactly what you've just said, Lambert out of the club would be a joker, really nice bloke and a great laugh, but as a player you weren't allowed to see that side of him
