Richard Keogh 16:09 - Jan 7 with 3808 views | CustardCream | Never been one to bash the players. But what does Keogh offer? I’ve never seen a ‘solid, experienced, reliable’ player be less solid and reliable. Not sure on the stats but I’d be very interested to see how many goals per minute he’s on the pitch we concede. If he’s here to be a coach, then be a coach. Think it’s time to retire

Rather Baggott kept playing week in week out than make 1 appearance every 2 months for us. Clearly Keogh was brought in for what he offers behind the scenes but I do think we would have expected better from him when he does get the chance to play.

Do we though? Would Baggott perform any better if he was playing the odd match here and there in a completely changed defence. Keogh has been disappointing so far but he may well be key for us in a positive way before the end of the season.

Richard Keogh on 08:24 - Jan 8 with 3151 views | PioneerBlue | He made one poor mistake but was otherwise decent. He’s here because KMcK and the coaching team value the experienced head in the defensive ranks, he is important for the training numbers in order that we can train at a level we expect to play.

Lots of wayward passes too. However I thought his passing range actually showed how far we have actually come as a club. A couple of misplaced passes stick out like a sore thumb nowadays. So I’m using this as a positive! Doesn’t make him a bad player though. He just had a poor game.

We as supporters can't put a value on what he offers behind the scenes as well. Clearly brought in more as an influence around the training ground and with an eye on moving into coaching.
Richard Keogh on 08:42 - Jan 8 with 3000 views | ITFC_Forever | Said this when we signed him. For all his experience and solid pro experience he can offer behind the scenes, his best days are behind him and he always had a rick in him then anyway.

He also put through a pass to Chaplin that David Beckham would have been proud of. Had Chaplin finished better we would all be raving about the pass.

He did make those two good passes late on. The only reason I noticed was because I had been criticising him all game. His distribution is generally poor, he slows things down unnecessarily and his usual sideways passes across the back often seen like mis-kicks. As I already posted on here last night, I hope never to see him in a Town shirt again. I don't like criticising individuals, but I have seen all his games for us and so far he has contributed very little.

Richard Keogh on 09:21 - Jan 8 with 2759 views | Mookamoo | Great character, no doubt a real asset during training, good to have experienced squad players etc But when push comes to shove, if his name is on the team sheet vs Plymouth we lose.
Richard Keogh on 09:30 - Jan 8 with 2691 views | BloomBlue | He's a classic example of a player coming to the end of their career. Sadly as we get older we get slower, it can be a small amount ie a second here and there, but in a game of football that can be dangerous. Unfortunately when you're a defender those lapses are invariably worse ie it results in a goal, whereas a striker, midfielder lapse is often covered by a defender. However his experience could help the younger players as we get into the business end of the season.

Yes i agree he was better than Edmundson yesterday , watch the highlights for their goal Edmundson makes the first mistake . Fridge had a poor game yesterday several mistakes that could have cost us the poor fella is really struggling .

I take your point and have heard similar but I’d be surprised. I think the model is very much like McK next time - someone with loads of coaching/number 2 experience. And it’ll all depend on what league we’re in!

His passing style and way of addressing the ball is a bit different as he always seems to hit it low and flat, but I didn't see a huge number misplaced, and I did see the outstanding pass that Glasgow mentions. Yes, he did get totally tangled up for their goal, but not before a badly sliced miscue from Edmundson had wrongfooted him. Don't think that MCkenna would praise him as he does because he thinks him a jolly nice older gent.

Richard Keogh on 10:26 - Jan 8 with 2315 views | X0Y0 | The way I see it is that it's worth the investment if it means Woolfenden can go on to develop and have the same level of success as Keogh did himself whilst Baggott can go and get weekly competitive experience. While he has made a few mistakes in games I suspect a young understudy (such as Baggott) would have made a similar number without providing the same leadership in the dressing room and training ground.
