They’ll end up with more statements than wins this season… on 09:25 - Sep 29 with 4176 views | pointofblue | It says something that I'm starting to appreciate Evans. His managerial appointments were, McCarthy aside, a disaster but he took the criticism on the chin and invested to at least keep the club solvent if not competitive. Plus he was careful who he sold the club to.

They’ll end up with more statements than wins this season… on 09:33 - Sep 29 with 4133 views | BigCommon | Fkn horrible situation for Wednesday fans... Bottom line is, they need him gone.. Hes dressed that up as though the fans are upset about the current league position. When it goes way beyond that.... I can see fortress Hillsborough, becoming an empty shell the longer he is there. Some fans voting with their feet and ££. With those diehards still attending, creating a toxic, anti Chansiri atmosphere.. Big old club, Wednesday. Potential to be a great club again, with the right ownership...

Reading this I was thinking of Evans and how a few fans treated him. I don't think he was a bad owner, just not progressive and felt that the managers should run everything perhaps? Difficult to tell. The football world moved quickly and is progressive and he simply fell behind in that respect and in terms of the money needed. He wasn't a bad owner, just not a good one, or perhaps not a good fit. Let's be honest, he was unluck with managers, we all thought Roy would be great with us to start....what a pigs ear that was, same for others....all on paper looked a good start before quickly unravelling. Would say I feel for Wednesday fans, but they do treat people like s**t, at least we didn't resort to personal attacks on Evans. Chansiri is a clown though!

i can't get behind anything from the Evans era, this ownership has so far made his ownership look even more pub level. I used to think keeping the club afloat was enough but it wasn't anywhere near enough, he may have not been crazy but his ownership was as close to a disaster as you could get.

But then when you compare him to Chansiri or the pillock at Scunthorpe... [Post edited 29 Sep 2023 10:12]

Evans might have gone sooner had we been more vocal a lot sooner? As it turns out, things fell into place for us. But I still have empathy for any clubs fans that are going through this kind of crap... Calling Chansiri a clown, is a polite way of putting it.. "You must love me or I will ruin your club by no longer funding it?" Sounds like a mad dictator, imo..

But it is unacceptable if their fans, and I use the term loosely, are approaching his family and causing them problems because of where the club is both on and off pitch. It is just a game of football. People shouldn't need to be reminded of where the boundaries are.

They used to be a proper club, with decent fans, a proud tradition and reputation for having decent teams. At the moment, they're a basket case, bin fire, laughing stock of a club, and they also have some fans letting them down as well off the pitch, as we've seen in our last couple of visits to Hillsborough.

You don't remember "Mick McCarthy your football is crap" followed swiftly by "Evans you're a cnvt, Evans Evans you're a cvut"...? Embarrassing, frankly. Scuffly arguments among fans even in the usually well behaved Upper North. However, he really was a bad owner, because he was absent and didn't invest anything like enough time, thought or money into the infrastructure, capable senior football minds, and thought the manager could do everything. That was an old school attitude even when he bought the club. It worked briefly with McCarthy cos he was equally old school, but the swift sinking into abjection was caused precisely by McCarthy's departure and the lack of continuity, which Evans was responsible for. The idea Hurst could step into that "structure" was risible, and plenty said so at the time of his transfer dealings.

Exactly. Despite the hatred from Bristol City fans, I'm glad Gamechanger brought in Ashton as well as O'Leary. People who have experience of running football clubs in the UK. Not sure who Wednesday have in those positions.

Sorry, I have to disagree. This club nearly died under Evans’ ownership. I’m not saying he’s a bad man or anything like that - don’t know him, wouldn’t wish to. But the day the club was sold to him was a very dark one indeed. He was awful. Evans is in the same box as Chansiri for me, only the latter is more vocal. I feel sorry for SW supporters. They’ve got their share of idiots, as do all clubs, but they deserve better than Chansiri. The sooner he sells the club on the better - for Wednesdayites and actually Chansiri himself, who can’t exactly be enjoying it.

Their owner is toxic and this could cause real long term damage to the club. I can't see them staying up without further investment and if this toxicity continues then no doubt they'll lose any key players they have in the January transfer window.
