does anyone else feel sorry for walton? 15:49 - Jul 17 with 4446 viewsreuserfivethree

He was a great keeper for us when he played, but just doesn't seem to fit any more. If he's not number one here, hopefully he'll get a move to a club where he will be. It just feels like he'll be the first of quite a few players who have helped us get where we are who will be let go as we upgrade.

In some ways I'd be happy for most of last year's team (which doesn't include Walton, obviously) to have a crack at the Prem, even if it's a disaster. On the other hand, I'd also quite like us to stay up...

I do but I also think he should fight for his place in ore-season. Muric looks class but Walton has to back himself as well as this is an opportunity for him.

depends really on how he feels

He might be happy to be 2nd choice at a prem side with a nice wage.

If he's not, then yeah bit gutted for him, but if he's happy then crack on and enjoy it.

I know the games about playing, bu if you can earn a good wage, training and being on the bench in the prem, what a life that is compared to possibly playing at carrow road in the lower leagues.

One of the reasons he joined was because he said he'd had enough being a number 2 in an interview with Jacob, and was glad to find a home where he knew he was going to play, so given that, I very much doubt he'll stick round playing second fiddle

He’s a professional benchwarmer and loanee. I suspect he is on a very good wage for doing very little and will move on for a seven figure signing on fee so it’s difficult to feel too sorry for him. Just another wasted talent really. Not sure why he hasn’t been given a chance ahead of Burley’s No 2. Perhaps he will be - seemed our best goalie for years.

Hi Christian, thanks for coming to this HR interview.

As you know, Ipswich are a Premier league club so what can you offer?

You've got League 1 experience from 2 years ago? - awkward!

Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beast playing the position he does. I hope he stays, if Muric picks up an injury, that then opens the door for him to grab the opportunity with both hands like Hladky last season…excuse the pun! Football is such a fickle mistress, it can all change in a blink of an eye.

He's not a great number 2 keeper. When Hladky came in for the cup games against Burnley and other he was very good, despite warming the bench for 18 months. Whereas Walton looked very rusty in his cameo's last season.

Some players need to be playing regularly to be at their best.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

Same could be said for Hladky starting his Championship season with a League 2 background.

Oh it's 'our' again now is it?

Sorry too late, you let your guard slip yesterday and outed yourself as a scummer.

It's time to do one, you won't be missed. I'm sure the Pink un or WOTB would welcome you with open arms.

We all know there’s one condition to get the job, what’s his views on pant sniffing?

Hope Pullen get himself sorted out job wise though. The club sacking him seems a little on the harsh side. If he was a player he would be kept on.

Had such a cushy number here, why on earth ruin that by betting when you know it’s against the rules.

You would hope the club would support him as well though. He’s in the wrong, but just feels like the club could have helped him to rehabilitate or however you want to term it.

Very simplistic view from myself but it didn’t look like the worst of misdemeanours albeit stupid.

I’m sure the amounts being talked about equate to a couple of £2/3 accumulators a weekend… that’s not needing help worthy, is it? (Obviously we done know if he bets like crazy on other sports)

Must be hard being a normal paid bloke around the players though, all earning £4/5/8k a week (obviously a lot more these days!)

Why sorry? He’s arrived at ITFC in L1 and made it back the PL. Now he proves he’s coachable to PL standard or perhaps he wants more minutes and leaves. Thats pro football. He’s paid accordingly.

He will start the season as 2nd choice. He was 1st choice before the start of last season but got injured and Hladky's form kept him out of the team. Of course you all know this but it is not beyond the realm of possibilities that the reverse could happen.

Don’t know tbh mate, help/guidance whatever we could term it as.

If it was those low amounts why did the club have a parting of ways. They wouldn’t have let a player go in most circumstances, ( I know that’s different as a player has a value to the club). It feels a little over the top if we did sack him for it. But maybe that’s just me.

Hladky leaving means he's one injury or suspension away from premier league football as it stands. Yes he was very unlucky with how things worked out last season but you never know, it could swing the other way this year. Hope he stays. Good keeper.
