Totally agree, can't wait to be in a league where it is competitive rather than big club biased, no VAR and more regular football to watch.

Us beating Wolves came back to haunt us since they changed managers shortly afterwards. Wolves will likely finish 15 points ahead of us by the time season is done.

You are a ray of sunshine aren't you?

I don't disagree about VAR and some of the points you make at times are valid but by heck every post you make seems to revel in negativity.

Based on your post above, shall we just concede to Forest in the Cup now?

It's like there's a negativity/positivity balance on here that always has to be maintained. As soon as Frimmers gets banned or changes his ways, someone else comes in to take his place. If anything, some of these twonks are much more negative than Frimmers ever was. I wonder if it's some sort of self preservation thing - a pessimist is never disappointed.

I'll be honest, I've been resigned to relegation since the Southampton game.

If we stay up from here it will top the achievement of the last 2 seasons. It's possible, but improbable, all things considered.

I think only a handful of people actually think we have a chance to stay up now. Manchester United should beat us comfortably and Wolves have a team that should be enough to finish well clear of ourselves. We’re going to finish 19th within a couple of points of Leicester. None of the bottom three will get 30points.

Most of them weren't posting on here when we were tearing up the Championship last season. They are either the type of armchair fan who only watches the Prem and thinks we should be able to immediately compete at that level, with no understanding of the realities of football, or they are just trolls.

Wolves play this evening in front of their own fans.

Should they win the pressure is off us and we can play without fear. Wolves lose and there will be more pressure on us to get a result at Old Trafford.

You say there'd be more pressure on us at Old Trafford, but conversely the opposite could happen - we might actually be buoyed by a Wolves loss and up our game having been handed an unexpected lifeline.

I don't think to say we won't survive is negative. Maybe to say we have absolutely no chance could be construed as negative as there's always that chance. Many seasons are determined by last game results. But anyone with an iota of sense sees that we are in the doh dah and it's going to take a big turn around in form and results for us to survive.

It's been interesting seeing some posts lately.

I got banned this time because i was a prk and purposely wound everyone up with a pointless FT post, which im sorry for, was stupid.

Anyways.

I am esp with sports a pretty competitive person and for me, I'm always aware of the positives, but also look out for the negatives, that's just me, possibly not a good thing, but it's a personality trait so i can't really switch it off. I can of course however control how I share that information, which i've clearly gone wrong about before.

But what's interesting is there are some posters who literally gave me the heat for some of my thoughts, who are sharing the same now. This is not btw a I was right situation, not at all, more that I feel many were star struck by the prem, KM had rightly alot of credit in the tank, still does for many, that's a personal choice I get it, so fair enough. But I think many are just slowly realising certain things.

At the end of the day, it is a competitive sport and we've wait 20 odd years to get back to this level, we've got here and we're result wise pretty sht at it.

I don't travel to games I know that, so fair play to all that do. But there are thousands of what aren't specifially die hard town fans, if we're down or if we're up etc.. but those who are paying good money to watch their side win esp at home, and we've had 1 win and scored just 10 goals, despite a financial outlay which was more money spent that we've spent in the whole of ITFC being a club.

Yes yes, big gap, where we've come from. etc etc
but £180 MILL what ever it is, and 10 goals with 5 games to go, that is really sht lets be honest.

So yeah, for me it's not a negativity positive balance at play here, it's just a realisation from many that all that hope and excitment of this season, the genius that is KM, have bascially become myths.

I am however looking forward to singing waka waka again all next season :)

I think there was a real expectation gap vs reality for some people. There was talk on here pre season of us finishing mid-table and possibly pushing for the top half. That was always unrealistic nonsense. I'd have hoped for half a dozen more points by this stage but we've broadly had the type of season we were always going to have. If McKenna keeps us up it will be genius and it will be his biggest accomplishment to date.

I agree with a lot of what you say but you can't just dismiss the context with a "Yes yes, big gap, where we've come from. etc etc".

No-one has come as far as us to such a tough division. It's a bigger gap than ever before, made harder when you're coming via League 1 and with no parachute payments from previous years. The money you speak of is almost irrelevant. X millions doesn't guarantee you anything, and no-one should be expecting it would. We paid what we had to to at least try to be competitive. If we still fall short it's not so much 'You don't get much for your money these days', more that the established Prem clubs have hoovered up most of the world's best and that's almost impossible to compete with.

Bigger picture: we're still moving forward as a club. If we have to take a step back to take steps forward, so be it.

Some of the wailing on here reminds me of when I was a kid and got upset if Ipswich didn't win every game and I couldn't understand why we didn't splash out on the best players in the world. And yet these people are presumably adults?!

In short, I don't really think we're the problem or have done much wrong. It's the system. To properly break into it and stay was always likely to take longer than this, and I think some fans used to winning most weeks have got greedy.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Yes, I do wonder what people were expecting. For me, a very good season might have meant being around the 30 point mark at this stage but the target was always to finish 17th whatever that might take.

I did think that Leicester, after only one year away, would be stronger than us too. If any of the promoted sides has really underachieved this year relative to where they were then it's them.

Interested in one point there,

KM had rightly alot of credit in the tank, still does for many, that's a personal choice I get it

Do you not agree that the man who took us from league 1 to the prem in 2 seasons, nearing 100 points in each season, still has a lot of credit in the bank after a tough season that's not over yet, but looks like we'll come up short?

Not a dig or argument, genuinely interested whether you don't agree with that?
