Even if I disagree with Solomon's comment, I agree with you that he has a right to comment without being chastised just because he is a relatively recently registered poster.
Of course, there isn't one uniform view from posters from any particular ethnicity. Another Jewish poster a while ago complained that the issue was being politicised on here by those seeking to put the boot in on Labour. |

There are a number of posts on here over the past few years that if they’d have been made on Labour party forums and the posters had been identified as Labour Party members, they’d have made up a fair chunk of the evidence presented to the EHRC and those members would have been suspended.
One long-standing poster wrote that he was certain that the antisemitism allegations against Labour were orchestrated by the Israeli government. He was simply asked to edit his post. He continues to bait Jews on here.
Another agreed with Pete Willsman that the Rabbis who wrote an open letter on Labour antisemtism were doing so on the instructions of the Israeli embassy. That post is still up. Willsman was suspended by Labour for the comments.

If I remember the editing incident specifically, the issue was that it was a clumsily-written post which implied something other than the poster intended. You pointed it out to me, I messaged them and they agreed it could be read in an unintended manner and they edited it.

OK AS isn't real probably took it marginally too far but whatever it is it is a terrible look and does absolutely nothing to help the situation. You wouldn't still be on the board if the same conversations were about islamophobia or other types of racism.

Fair enough for pulling back on that bit. I’d hope we would discuss it objectively and fairly because ultimately we should want racism and injustice to be eliminated. Perceptions aren’t always the answer here or particularly helpful.
Islamophobia is a case in point. The perception goes the other way where it is relatively normalised to criticize Muslims and Islam in and of themselves. That’s unacceptable in the same way it’s rightly unacceptable to criticise Jews and Judaism.
But you can criticise Iran or Islamism specifically and socially/politically. You should be able to criticise Israel and Zionism also. But we’ve seen perceptions allowed to make such criticisms off limits or close to the edge anyway.
It’s really not an extreme discussion but that’s the way it’s been portrayed to shut it down. |  |

You demand the right to speak openly and honestly on these issues - to debate in good faith and do so interlectually. The quid pro quo is that you should grant your opponents the same privilege back.
If Soloman feels wronged, he should be able to say so, without the pathetic holding up of red cards (not that you did that, but talk of extreme accusations isn't helpful - you should see it as part of the robust debate you demand). [Post edited 19 Nov 2020 9:39]
