Would it? He may have scored 25 goals last season but he only scored a combined total of 9 in the previous two. He’s never played above this level and bar last season has never given the remotest indication that he ever would.
Not convinced he’d fit the bill as our main striker in a ‘ready made championship team’ and he’d be on too much money to be on the bench |  |

At this level if a player has scored more than 20 a season for 3 seasons in a row then he's probably already been signed by a top Championship team.

From memory both sets of fans were united in not wanting him.
Not convinced these three would be much of an upgrade in quality on what we have to be honest. We’d be relying on Wyke to replicate a wonder season that’s a clear anomaly in his career and is Power really better than Downes? Is Sunderland’s untried young attacker better than the likes of Dobra or El-Mizouni? |  |

Wyke.... 1 quality season, I'd love him, however even PC mentioned the assists Mcgeady was involved in..... So put Wykes upfront with Bennetts on the right and Wykes wouldn't have scored fk all here. So if we did go for Wykes, PC would have to have someone with top top quality on the flanks to whip balls in.
Power/Downes Don't know much about Power, however perhaps over 90 minutes PC would feel he would get more out of power than Downes who in fairness gives you 60 minutes of downes type work and then goes missing... same as Bishop etc |  |

Won't get Wyke. Not while he has Championship interest. He's had his best ever season. If he doesn't take the step up on the back of it, he'll know he might not ever get the opportunity again as he's unlikely (going on previous track record) to repeat this season's feats again anytime soon.
Power the article says isn't a 'fit' for Cook's midfield. So assume we won't get a round peg for a square hole.
Might get Hawkes. But he'd only be coming because he's not good enough to get in Sunderland's first team. Is this what we want? |  |

I thought it was telling that Sunderland faded during the second half of their play-off match with Lincoln last week, some of that was Lincoln being better but age looked to have caught up with a few of their players.
