Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather 11:23 - Jul 7 with 4445 views | homer_123 | So, just had a call from a friend who's kid is in a local N Essex primary school. Small school with 1 class per year group. Year 1s sent home to isolate, in a class of 31 kids, 7 positive cases in the last 2 days.

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 12:18 - Jul 7 by clive_baker | Cheers Hoppy. Pretty gutted to be honest as we've not caught up for a while, and it was promising to be a good one. Still, it's definitely for the best. Having seen my wife come back from her shifts at the hospital over this crazy period, the seriousness of it has never been lost on me. I know from reading on here that your family has had it's own battles, I hope you're all well through that now and out the other side. Got to look on the bright side, I've got the house to myself, some beers in the garage and will get myself a nice takeaway delivered instead to get over my FOMO. It's Coming Home |
Thanks. Yes, KJ is much better on that front, thank you. I'm not quite sure how long the 'long covid' side of things is expected to last... she still gets tired quite easily and can sometimes be short of breath occasionally - whether that's a knock on, I guess it's difficult to know. The main thing is, she's almost back to the point where the only real concern she has to deal with is living with me...

Glad she's doing well. I posted up a few days ago that they think they might know what is causing long covid which is a big step forward. Hopefully it will mean they can look for an effective treatment. SB

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 12:24 - Jul 7 by ElderGrizzly | If the trend continues, we see 4,000 hospitalisations a day. And most of those will be under 30. |
This was the plan last year as well. It ended REALLY well. We are currently at 'winter' level of A&E attendances at [redacted], by the way.

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 12:04 - Jul 7 by hoppy | If only more people had this attitude, perhaps we’d be in a different place… too many people would see it as ‘their right to go and watch the game wherever I want whatever, and nobody’s going to stop me” and then wonder why there’s another spike. Enjoy the game anyway! |
People are ar$eholes. These people should be refused access to the NHS. They caused it by their own selfishness and stupidity. I have not a drop of sympathy.

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 11:42 - Jul 7 by Lord_Lucan | Delta was here before it was even identified, you cannot stop these things, only slow things down. But Covid isn't going away and you cannot keep everyone locked up forever. It's a kerfuffle, I'll give you that - but there isn't a magic bullet. It's impossible to live in a risk free society, maybe we are going to just have to deal with this fecker head on. |
Careful Sir, They won't like this kind of talk on here. Blame, scandal, fault But for what its worth, I agree with you 100%

It's laughable really, "Exercise your best judgement" says Boris, to a country that elected him as PM.

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 11:58 - Jul 7 by clive_baker | I was meant to be going out with friends to watch the game tonight, but someone I came into contact with on Saturday has since tested positive, and is feeling unwell. I've done 2 tests and both have come back negative, and I feel fine, but given it's only been a few days I'm not going tonight now. Shame, but best to be on the safe side. Certainly feels like the increase in cases is getting a bit silly now. |
one pub in my town has had to close as they had someone in sat night who has tested positive. so at least 70 people will miss the england game at said pub.all the other pubs and clubs in the town are all booked up. so they will have to sit at home and watch it on their t.v.

Going to the pub just doesn't sit well with me for a number of reasons, a mate went to The Golf last Saturday and said it took 45 minutes to get a drink due to the table service, and his view was obscured, he said he got offered a seat for tonight but turned it down to stay at home instead. Last time I went to the pub for footy was in 1998 when Beckham got sent off and the Black Tiles looked like Damascus 25 minutes after the final whistle. Not for me thanks.

I'd have gone to the Eng v Pakistan T20 on 18th July at Headingley, but decided it's just not safe. It's a govt. "Events Research Programme" event, with 100% capacity allowed but dependent on a NHS "Covid Pass" for entry.

I'm sure they'll survive, and get a better view, and not have to queue for drinks, and get a cold drink, etc. Sounds much the better option to me!

Covid post - so ignore if you'd rather on 14:30 - Jul 7 with 842 views | unstableblue | My lad has had to self isolate for 10 days, as a pupil in one of his classes has tested positive; and yet they've only asked a third of the class (those closest to the individual) to self isolate. My son on the border of this, so in fact the person sitting next to him has not been asked. All a bit crazy! But then I speak to a 38 year old client, she's been bed ridden with Covid for 3 weeks, complete state, and had already had one jab. Delta variant of Covid. Her GP saying she is one of those younger people susceptible to serious and long Covid, and without the jab could have expected to have been admitted to hospital. In short Covid is not like a common winter flu - like the anti-vaccine/lockdown d!cks continue to promote and Javid has almost agreed with!!! - its a b@stard we still don't fully understand and may mutate again. And the handling of it is a HUGE challenge, and we have the worst cabinet in our lifetimes. Mind bending.

If public officials make wrong decisions that leads to many avoidable deaths why shouldn't they be accountable? Power without accountability - doesn't sound a great combination to me. I wonder if you would be so laid back and phlegmatic if a different political party was in power? Or perhaps you had lost a loved one in a totally avoidable situation.

If everyone needs a ‘Covid passport’ presumably that means a negative test or proof of vaccination. I can’t see how this event would not be safe.

Is it not just a lateral flow test? You know, the really unreliable tests, bought in their millions, earning some Tory donor some massive money?
