The meal you have of an evening.. 09:26 - Aug 20 with 8770 views | artsbossbeard | ...what is it's official title? Lucan, who considers himself an educated man wrongly refers to it as "dinner" whilst the sane members of our whatsapp group call it by it's correct title of "tea". Settle an argument here, fellow blues.
| Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing. | Poll: | Raining in IP8 - shall I get the washing in? |

It's dinner, obviously.... on 09:35 - Aug 20 with 2452 views | Bloots | ....put it this way if you want to go out for a meal in the evening at a nice restaurant, you wouldn't phone them up and say "can I book a table for tea please?" Would you? Breakfast Lunch Dinner There would be exceptions for certain thick Northerners obviously, but most of them think that McDonalds is a restaurant, so they can't really be included.

The meal you have of an evening.. on 09:42 - Aug 20 with 2395 views | hoppy | Tea is just the shortened version of ‘Afternoon Tea’, consisting of limp, often crustless, sandwiches, french fancy cakes and perhaps even battenberg. Dinner is the main meal of the evening.

The meal you have of an evening.. on 09:47 - Aug 20 with 2353 views | Pendejo | Genuinely not def info. There are more than 3 meal times in a day... Breakfast up to 10am from whenever you get up Brunch 10-12 Lunch 12-3 Afternoon tea 3-6 Dinner 6-9 Supper 9-12 Midnight feast 12-1 Anything after this is night shift territory and they can call it what they want. My theory is that "teatime" came about as kids will have a meal after school, thus at "(afternoon) tea time" and carried that into adulthood, whereas those who don't get home til after 6pm recognise it as dinner. Completely unscientific theory

Brunch isn't a thing - it's either a late breakfast or an early lunch depending on what you eat

The meal you have of an evening.. on 09:50 - Aug 20 with 2329 views | GeoffSentence | This is the perfect example of why authoritarianism is better than libertarianism. With everybody free to go about calling their evening meal whatsoever they like there is mayhem. Confusion reigns, there is no order. Dinner could be the mid day meal, it could be the evening meal. Tea could be a dink, a fancy mid-afternoon snack with small sandwiches nd cakes or a full on evening nosh up. This is ridiculous. When I am dictator (benign) I shall order that the main evening meal only be called tea (even when booking a restaurant table), unless it is a lighter meal served after 9pm when it shall be supper. Anyone contravening this edict and calling it dinner, will be forced to miss tea and go hungry because dinner was hours ago, at lunchtime.
