I had to say good bye to Carrie this afternoon 20:56 - Aug 27 with 3525 views | Keno | She had been diagnosed with liver cancer and was very poorly. Making that decision was hardest thing I’ve ever done but also the right thing to do I miss my little Welsh springer spaniel so much, I’m not sure I’ll ever get over it. Keno is very unhappy [Post edited 28 Aug 2021 0:16]

I had to say good to Carrie this afternoon on 21:02 - Aug 27 by Lord_Lucan | I feel your pain When my dog Burley died I cried like a baby. She had gone loopy early one evening and just started walking round in circles, me and the mrs took it in turns to stay up with her all night and cuddle her until we could get the vet in first thing. Commiserations Keno, it really is unconditional love isn't it! [Post edited 28 Aug 2021 10:08]

Great name for a dog that. They are soulmates in a way, always happy to see you never judgemental.

I had to say good bye to Carrie this afternoon on 07:59 - Aug 28 with 718 views | Moriarty | Very sorry to hear that Keno. Isn’t it the trade of our bonds in life that we must also say goodbye? I’ve no doubt though that however sad this time is, the bond and the good times with Carrie will outweigh that sadness. Your genuine good humour was an understated support for many on here I’m sure during lockdowns etc and it’s now the board’s turn to support you. Best wishes.

It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Sorry to hear that matey..... on 21:21 - Aug 27 by Swansea_Blue | I know what you mean, although both breeds have lovely temperaments. Even the poor greyhound they rescued from the Irish travellers race scene was as soft as a brush. Poor thing just couldn’t handle being around any men except for my grandad (obviously been beaten regularly), and it took him weeks to earn it’s trust. Keep them on a lead and they’re as placid as can be. Let them off though and you’ll never see them again! |
We had a WhippetxGreyhound, she used to go like stink off the lead. Once she was running along the hedge line in a local park, just as a young lad, maybe 12 or 13 stepped out through a gap in the hedge from the path that ran alongside. They collided, he went straight up in the air and Molly, (the dog) slid about 20 feet on her back on the grass. Dog was fine, kid had a significant limp and left the park straight away. Molly died about 4 years later from a brain tumour. Was a wonderful dog.

Very true..... on 21:31 - Aug 27 by Bloots | ....I actually hired a private field for an hour last weekend. 5 acres, all fenced in. My mate has a lurcher too, so we just let them have a run, they loved it. My last greyhound was one that I also raced, once I retired her she basically spent 6 years on her sofa. Legend. |
Hey Blootsy Are you local, what place do you rent out? One of our dogs (Sir Bobby) will not tolerate other dogs so we also hire a field once a week for an hour. Closest one is The Dog Orchard but whilst it's great there is another we go to which is more natural and interesting for the dogs and that is Suffolk Run Free - it's just a bit of a longer drive which is a bit of a pain Both £10 an hour We only found out that these places existed a couple of months ago, when we first let Sir Bob off the lead he just couldn't stop running, I think we all nearly cried. ....I'm in Essex. There's about half a dozen near me, they seem to be springing up a lot now. £10-£12 an hour mainly. My lurcher just chases anything that moves, rabbits, squirrels, deer, dogs, cats, bikes, cars, joggers, leaves, crisp packets.....you name it. So she just can't go off the lead. Seeing her leg it at full pelt around a filed is great fun.
