Jack Ross sacked by Hibs..... on 09:52 - Dec 9 with 2224 views | The_Romford_Blue | Sunderland fans really really didn’t rate his football and were massively underwhelmed as he came with a lot of promise on paper. I’d say Sunderland are arguably the club in the country we can compare ourselves most with (size, history, expectation, support, ambitions) and if he couldn’t do it there, I’m doubtful he’d be able to do it here. As it goes, he was my second choice for the job the year we gave it to Hurst. My number 1 was Gareth Ainsworth whos since got Wycombe promoted and then now in league 1 again has Wycombe contending.

Jack Ross sacked by Hibs..... on 10:11 - Dec 9 with 1919 views | Darth_Koont | I like him too. And an element of this is his own success turning into disappointment. – Gets to the semifinal of the League Cup and the final of the FA Cup last year ... then lose both to St. Johnstone (no disrespect but still) – Starts off this season like a train and now the form and results have fallen off a cliff – Gets past Rangers in this year’s League Cup semi (great) but the overall form now means we’re facing Celtic and expecting to get pumped It’s a really strange one though. The impression I’m getting is that him and the players just aren’t that connected any more. But it always felt like his man management was one of his chief qualities.

His not doing it at Sunderland was something like finishing 4th with 85 points, losing in JPT and PO Final and only losing about 6 games all season. What we'd give for that level of failure!

Jack Ross sacked by Hibs..... on 10:15 - Dec 9 with 1817 views | WeWereZombies | It has been a dramatic tailing off and sacking a week before a Scottish League Cup Final is equally dramatic (they beat Rangers to get there). Two months ago they looked like they could drive a wedge between the 'Gers and Celtic this season, only recently promoted Hearts look like doing that now. His intensity on the touchline makes we wonder if he is too much of a disciplinarian for some players and he had lost the dressing room, might not be what we need at the moment. On the other hand, he does seem a lot quieter than Cook was and could get a tune out of our squad by concerted psychological pressure rather than that more direct approach.

Very strange, as like you say he seemed a gifted man manager and motivator

Yep. And I was forgetting the overall and biggest example of his success turning into disappointment: last season we had our highest league finish in over 15 years. So it’s felt like a massive drop off, even though we’re now closer to our upper mid-table norm in the SPL. But something has gone wrong I think. This isn’t just bad luck.

I know, it felt that all we had to do was say yes - but we kept him on a string waiting for Hurst. TWTD

I think Sunderland get a few more at their games, have won more leagues, more cups, were in the Premier League more recently and have had a few more Netflix shows made about them. Other than that we’re level.

Jack Ross sacked by Hibs..... on 12:48 - Dec 9 with 1110 views | Keaneish | Mmm… On the fence. Yes pre-Hurst. Not so sure now. Sunderland fans got frustrated with his football but he had them challenging and in cups which is an improvement. Always seems to go sour too prematurely for him though, why is this?
