So Andy Warren reports in EADT its discussions with Dijon that are the issue but Phil hears it is all good with Dijon and Celina terms the issue. What's the truth as some on here critical of Celina that he doesn't really want to be here choosing Stoke and Turkish club over us. If the reality is it's Dijon we aren't even an option Celina could pick at the moment.

Hmmm - I think you’re being kind Phil! Looks to me like he’ll be happy to come here, but he’d also be happy to go somewhere else if they offered him more dosh.

For me, wanting to be somewhere means that I’d go even if I wasn’t getting as much money.

And? What exactly do you expect? The stick he’s getting is ridiculous, even if he was going elsewhere for more money.

Why do you think we have most of the players we have? Because we are paying them more.

Some people need to grow up. It’s his job. He likes the club and wants to come here but he’s doesn’t have the same degree of loyalty as an Ipswich fan. That’s not a surprise and not something to attack him for.

Truly impaired.

Aluko never plays 2 games in a week and generally only played 60 minutes when he did play, he can't be relied upon as a regular starter

With the new sub rules, there's a good chance we end up trying to use 6 attacking players per game (8 if you include the right wing back/right winger).

So you start Celina-Ladapo-Chaplin-Burns, change to Harness-TJJ-Aluko-Edwards. Jackson and KVY into the rotation if you're a couple of injuries down. Add a striker and it's probably a maximum of 3 forwards out of any matchday squad when we've got an injury-free squad (which we usually won't).

(Zero pathway for youths mind)

I think it might benefit the youths tbh - the players you've mentioned will inevitably pick up injuries so the additional subs could allow Humphrys, Hughes, Chirewa etc to get more first team football?

Woah, steady on J2! I’m not giving him stick and I’m not attacking him - I’m just not joining the love in for him. Of course he’s going to say the right things to people, I’m just not buying the line that he has some kind of love in with us. Good for him if he finds more money than us, but all I’m saying is let’s not kid ourselves about him.

I’ve seen enough of KM to trust him with the players and squad he wants to build so if he signs BC then great. But if he doesn’t I shan’t be losing sleep. It’s about the overall strength of the squad isn’t it, and not just how good the individuals are.

If he only comes here as a very last resort, then I'd rather he doesn't join. Its just not a good sign.

We have Chaplin, Aluko, Jackson and Harness amongst others who can play in the roles off the striker.

Bizarre mindset.

Let's not sign a player who would be one of the best in division because he might have considered options at a higher level which he shouldn't have done because we're IPSWICH TOWN.

Given the way some of our fans are acting I wouldn't blame him for not coming back.

4 injuries to forward players feels like a lot of traffic just to get on the bench, I'd say.

If he REALLY wanted to join us then he would have by now. Even if what is on offer here is a little less than elsewhere.

If he joins now it smacks of us being a last resort.

Absolute Tosh.

All this nonsense about "He should be playing even if it's less" is such tribal guff.

First and foremost in life you look out for number one, if he feels like he isn't getting the best deal here then it's perfectly fine to find other options that are willing to pay more.

Turkish club with no fans isn't a higher level.

I didn't see Celina in League 1 team of the season.

Its not a bizarre mindset to suggest all players should be committed in their attitude.

If he does come, hopefully he is committed.

why 4 injuries?

If we've got 11 senior professionals for 4 forward positions. For me, that's 4 starters, 4 replacements, 3 out of the squad. With 3 injuries, the 3 surplus seniors get promoted into the matchday squad, you'd need one more for a kid to a matchday squad.

For me it's a sad life that's just about getting as much money as you can grab. Of course we're all free to do that, and the way a footballer does it is actually fairly harmless I suppose, but I think people would be a lot happier if they tended to follow their heart rather than religiously tying to fill their wallet until they need another wallet, ad infinitum.

I'm not saying that Celina should do anything, but... ...hang on, what am I going on about, yes he should, he should fkn well sign for us, for love not money!

He hasn't chosen anyone over us.. His club just accepted offers for him... Stoke deal was never going to happen. And imo, he made his personal terms , too difficult for the Turk deal to go through... Perhaps to make an Ipswich deal possible when Dijon get to"squeaky bum time" about off loading him.? They are running out of potential buyers/loan options.
Bottom line is. We are still a potential option for Celina. However, we are not desperate to sign him, as we are covering ourselves in that area of the pitch.. My op'..

That's true but seeing it from his point of view, if any of us were offered £15k a week by one employer or £10k a week from another where would you go.

Although it could be frustrating to the plan of having everyone in early, it's not impossible we see Celina come in for £10k a week at the end of August, when we were being asked to pay £15k a week in July.

If so, that's £500,000 saved. Not far off what Harness has cost.

Exactly the sort of reason we have a limit. Turkey has fallen through, Rangers signed Lawrence so may not be that interested anyway, no other English club can take him. Sure there may be other clubs interested who can, but given that Celina is likely not full fit anyway and may need to be brought up to speed over a number of weeks, even if signed today, having him later could effectively mean we are able to offer that extra money to land a Davis or Hirst.

That’s true but if that’s the case I wish we’d move on to our second target - but, as I said, that’s more down to my wish to have the squad fully in place for Bolton.

I honestly don’t know how Ashton and McKenna have the patience. Don’t think I could do it.

Never mentioned his ability, I'd rather have someone who really wants to be here, and you will say how do I know he dosent I don't no more than you do, but if he really did he'd be here, stay clear of a serious injury and if he signs permanently next year he would have made the financial difference up,
