They've had some dodgy results and I quite fancy us as the away team. That being said, they'll be bang up for it and I still think Bannan is top class.
Looking forward to it. Could be a real springboard.

Awful lot of confidence for a side who in their last home match lost 2-0 to James Norwood's Barnsley.
And deservingly at that. Meanwhile our 4 points have been dropped frustratingly in matches we either would have won at a higher level (Barnsley and the goal that was) or were by all accounts dominant in.
I'd be interested to see a combined XI of our sides from anyone with more knowledge and impartiality than me, because they're evidently in love with theirs and I'm not convinced who if anyone would displace our starting 11.

They don't seem to actually know a lot about us (or, indeed, the formations their own team plays).
Wednesday have only played one more of the top six than we have (Portsmouth, resulting in a draw) and only one fewer of the bottom six (three rather than four). They have only won a single game against a team in the top half (same as us). The average League position of their eight opponents is 13th, as against our 16th, which certainly doesn't indicate an astonishingly tough opening schedule compared with Ipswich.

I can't say I'm not biased, nor can I say that I have watched a lot of their matches, but, right now, Smith and Bannan are the two players that I would want. Having said that, Evans is in absolutely belting form, so I'm not saying Bannan would walk in.
I'm very happy with our squad, and wouldn't swap it for anyone else's in League One.
However, a draw is a solid result, and any kind of win, no matter how flukey or undeserved, would be a great result for us. Sometimes the context of the season is most important, much as I disliked Mick's negative phase. Away to Wednesday and Portsmouth: just don't lose. Anyone else: silky skills and defence-splitting passes.

To be fair to them have we beaten anyone one above us this season? But seriously we are so well coached and drilled in terms of our playing patterns, the combination play we put together is high quality.. if we play out game to the best of our ability we win 9 times out of 10

Well, 6 times out of 8, anyway!
But I take your point. If we play well then the opposition have to be lucky to get anything from the game.

They really do have an inflated opinion of themselves. It’s my first full week back living in Sheffield this week so it has come at a good time, really want to spank them.
Much prefer Blades to Wednesday.
You prefer the Blades? Silly.
You're right about the inflated sense of themselves innit. Not massively dissimilar to Town in some senses though :)

Their fans can't even decide what formation they were playing... I wouldn't look too far into anything they say.
This! That was my immediate takeaway, along with well Ipswich won't know what team they're playing. Switching formations, tactics regular always goes well doesn't it?
Deal with Bannon and job done.

Weird, I sort of assumed they'd be a little concerned by their start?
They keep saying our start was soft, but 3 of their 5 wins have come against the bottom 6, another against the team in 14th. Bolton's the only big win. In the mean time they've lost to Barnsley and Peterborough. They're not to know how fortunate Barnsley and Bolton were to come away with their Portman Road points, but Barnsley have gone to their place and dominated the shot count and xG, deservedly beating them. They edged their tight game with Bolton, scoring twice from 8 shots.
They've got good players in there and it'll obviously be a tough test. But not really seeing where their confidence is coming from?

If we beat them it'll be catastrophic again and Moore will have to go. They are buoyed by a 3-0 win against a dire Morecambe side. Their optimism is build on sand foundations.
On paper probably two similarly talented squads in differing ways but we have the McKenna factor.

In the system we play Bannan possibly wouldn't walk into it, but you'd just play a different system. Him and Morsy are the best two midfielders in the league.

Yeah, my feeling is that we'll likely be better collectively than they are, even if both sides are probably Championship quality in terms of personnel.
My one concern is that they might overload us in midfield (they usually have 3 in there), but otherwise I'd expect us to dominate the ball like we do most weeks and like Bolton and Barnsley, Wednesday will only come away with points it they're better than us at taking their chances.

I don’t have a problem with supporters of either club tbh. There are a lot worse out there. By and large, their supporters are pretty dismissive of us because we’ve yet to play anybody, though at least one recognises that we have quality that approaches theirs. Personally, I hope they keep dismissing us as it can only act in our favour.
They are obviously buoyed by a dominant win on Tuesday and a good start to the season. They’ve had a fair amount of change to their squad and will improve as the season goes on. They’ll be in the top four seasons end, I’m sure.
Saturday’s game is going to be very interesting. By the end of the month about a quarter of the season will be done. Regardless of how the next three games go, we will be in a decent place for the meat of the season - Oct on. It’s all good.
Wednesday and Sheffield U supporters really don’t get along. They call each other Pigs and their Derby is one of the more tasty ones.

Agree. re Bannan, he's class. He's played the best part of 100 times in the Premier League and even more in the Championship. Plus a decent amount of Scotand caps. We don't have anyone with that pedigree, and he's certainly a player I would love here.
If both squads were combined I honestly think ours would dominate the starting lineup, especailly keeper and defensively, although I've always liked Liam Palmer. They've got some wily forwards in Gregory, Windass, Smith though. They can all score goals, I would say this is on paper our toughest game of the season and a big test defensively.

TBF, this is the match where we start to see what we’re really made of and how good we really are.
I have a feeling we’re the real deal, and wouldn’t be surprised if we win. But neither should we be too cocky, they are a decent team and will be there or there abouts at the end of the season. I’ll take a draw.
Of course they have a decent squad, they have invested heavily in it.
They pay really well, I read over the summer Barry Bannan was still on £27k a week, which is probably why he is still playing in L1 and nobody has taken him.
I would choose our squad over theirs every time though, and we are an extremely well coached side with real quality throughout every position.
We go there with nothing to fear - feel it will be a score draw though.
