Who's that player you always wanted for whatever reason for us to take a punt on 11:09 - Oct 11 with 3883 viewsOwainG1992

Mine was Lee Trundle.

Truthfully did his best work in league one/two but I always wanted to see him in a town Shirt.

Poll: Apologies I'm bored. How many signings will we have by Plymouth at home.

There was a black left footed striker who played for Forest, among others, that I always liked the look of. He was massive and a bit of a battering ram, probably 2008-09 sort of era but he was around for a while. Can't remember his name for the life of me.

Ishmael Miller.

Lallana and Lambert. It was so obvious they were going to the top and we looked very closely at both.

And to think that Lallana was injured a lot. Very, very good player and could have been even better.

There’s a few:

Charlie Austin when at Swindon
David Nugent when at Bury
Billy Sharp when at Scunthorpe

Always felt like all three of these were destined to play for us at some point.

I remember Charlie Austin being at Ipswich all day and skysports miss reporting we had signed him. The next day we went up to Burnley and signed by lunch... #gutted

Luke Bishop when he was in his pomp with Cambridge. Would have been a bargain at the time and given us some much needed creativity in midfield, but mick was manager.

Not sure that coming here would have done much to improve his injury record.

Just seen he’s playing over in Brisbane now - not a bad way to see out his career.

Could probably have done a job in league one at 33 though.

Seemed a right tool when on TalkSport.

He was asked if Ipswich were an option for him when he got released from QPR and he said it was too far as he lives in the South West.

Piotr Halmosi. We got Norris.

Or Matthew Etherington. We got Paul Taylor.

Either would have sorted the imbalance that we seem to have had for years of being over-reliant on the right and significantly weaker on the left.

I suppose my real answer is that I wish we had taken a punt on keeping Connor Wickham and Jordan Rhodes, and letting them be our strike force for a few years together. With Jack Marriott on the bench.

Wait, what did Tony Vaughn have to do with it?

We couldn't agree a fee with Watford, but we couldn't go to a tribunal as we already had one pending over the transfer of Tony Vaughan to Man City, and a club could only have one pending tribunal at a time (in or out).

Yes, was going to say Boyd.

Wasn't it the case that we were in for both him and Paul Taylor at the time, and ended up very much backing the wrong horse?

Jamal Campbell Ryce & before he went to Scum I wanted us to take Wes Hoolahan.

More recently, I would have liked to have seen us take Scott Twine before he went to MK, the fact he was overlooked when he was available on a free from Swindon was an awful decision.

Boyd was in the door, but we couldn't agree terms.

ME wanted to put clauses that Boyd wasn't happy with, so it didn't happen (and Taylor did).
