We have absolutely fcked this haven’t we 19:40 - Feb 11 with 44858 viewstextbackup

Even a draw after pissing about going 2-0 down isn’t good enough.

We were fcking top, points clear.

This is an absolute shtshow, we’ll probably nick a 5th 6th place finish due to the sheer amount of sht we have left to play… but I don’t see us getting anything from barnsley Bolton or Derby, might nick a point or two if we are lucky, which really then gives nobody any hope that the playoffs will result in anything but 82726 passes then concede from the only shot or two we have against us.

It was a fair shout. KMs average point haul since becoming manager would have seen us into a likely 3rd or 4th spot but he absolutely smashed it to turn it good. Not many doubted whether we had it in us to go on a run like that as we’d done it earlier in the season - whether we would and the new players would bed in in time was the question. Turns out the signings were gold and the rest is history.

I always believed. Hope i'm right come 3pm on Sunday when i said we'd win the division on February 2nd.

I think our previous promotions have been as champs or as playoff winners by N2_Blue 2 Feb 2023 13:57
If you want to bookmark this, I’m still saying we’ll win the division. We’ll finish stronger than Weds, Plymouth and the rest. The bed wetting after a wobble (a pretty minor one at that) is typical of town fans that are starved of success. But this is very different, Keep the faith, it’s happening.

Cheers my man

Defo went full pissed off mode… but, never wanted a change of manager, etc etc, just think I’d accepted playoffs was happening. And we’d started with such promise that it went to my head.

But as it is, we are gonna win the league. So happy days

I’d take this thread in a positive way, that when the fans remain positive and can see the margins on the pitch are tight, then a bit of patience and positivity can make a huge impact and turn things in an instant.

Trust the process…

Will be just as important next season to keep this mindset

As much as these threads are embarrassing, people will probably feel ashamed of what they posted.

It massively p!ssed me off at the time.

At least we can all bask in the glory now!

I’m not embarrassed or ashamed.

I was pissed off that we’d seemingly thrown away such a great position. To win about a million games on the trot has been an incredible turn around and one I’m chuffed as hell about.

Never wanted a change of manager, never wanted players dropping. Was purely annoyed with results.

And to a degree, I still am, because the points we dropped, we should have won this league with about 110 points in the bag.

You should be embarrassed. This was after a draw with sheff Wed who were on a 20+ games unbeaten run.

This is bed wetting at its finest.

The fact you thought we'd be 5th or 6th or might not make the playoffs is even more laughable.

A million games on the run. You clearly like an exaggeration haha

However I'm guessing it was straight after the game and your emotions were high.
EDIT: you weren't the only one too.

I find the thread cringy. There were many contributions though.

And people probably are embarrassed because a few haven’t come out since. Although certain people aren’t i interested in posting through the good times. Which is weird.

There should certainly be a few lessons learnt from this whole thread.

- Sheff Wed in Feb a must win game
- Going early with the flounce
- And my particular favourite, Mick’s football was better than this

Reacted how I did, but we’ve got promotion, so for me that’s all that matters.

Just as well the players didn't get "wrapped up in it".

The berating given to Morsy by some "fans" at Bristol was unacceptable but no doubt Sam took the moment as an example of how not to act when adversity appears. He chose to run towards adversity as our club mantra dictates and as a result we are now heading back to the Championship.

It was a perfectly valid view at the time it was posted Texters, as we all know.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that the people pointing fingers, are the ones dragging up a thread from several months ago, criticising and attempting to belittle fellow Town fans who expressed their feelings at the time, without the benefit of hindsight, but we do have a good selection of morons on the board.

And it's taken a run of 13 wins out of 14 to achieve what we have - which as much as it is outstanding, is something that is very unusual in football.

I remember a couple of talking heads on one of the Ipswich podcasts was laying into McKenna around this time, but said, “It’s because we’re in League One. If we get back to the Championship, I’ll relax.” I think a lot of the overboard comments of the time were down to a fear that we would never get out of this league.

There were some utter bell-ends in the loos after the Cambridge away game calling McK every name under the sun and wanting him sacked immediately.

To be fair, most people were looking at them like they were morons.

All but the very most optimistic (e.g. N2) truly believed we would still win the league or get autos. I consider myself to be in the hopelessly optimistic category, and even I was thinking it was now Playoffs. The thing is, we absolutely knew we were the best team in L1, and we knew that we were capable of going on an amazing run.
All the stats pointed to us being the best in the division - passes, shots, XG, you name it, we were top. You could see it with your eyes at every game, even in the Dec/Jan/Feb period. It was as though in the entire multiverse, we happened to be living in the one where ITFC had the worst luck rating, and Plymouth the highest. Maybe there is a god* and s/he is a Norwich supporter. So when you are playing the best football, but all the results keep going against you, it takes a helluva lot of belief to still say we are gonna win the league (fair play N2).
But then, in mid Feb, something happened. Maybe s/he did a reverse Delia - binned the yellow and green rosette and decided to support ITFC. Our Jan signings blossomed, and our luck turned - we actually started getting a few decisions. And then we started getting the outcomes that we knew all season we were capable of. Lets hope that things go our way on Sunday, just need Vale to play a blinder and Plymouth to fail to get a 25 yd Bali Mumba deflected winner in the 96th minute.

*for clarity, there is no god.

Tbf, there were a handful of posters (we all know who) who were thriving on the negativity, churning out thread after thread at the time.

I'm not sure Texters, a usually positive supporter who sometimes gets a bit excited (not meant as patronising as that sounds!), warrants the same stick back.

The lesson for everyone though, is that seasons don't end in January or February, and that we should never be throwing in the towel that early.
