Just wondering if anyone here actively supports a second club? I've been following the fortunes of Sheffield FC last couple of seasons (worlds oldest club) ...in Northern Premier East Division...

I loved the old Layer Rd ground. The new ground on the edge of town is just awful and awful location.

Currently building loads of restaurants, bars and Cinimea etc at the same location, so the location is getting better. Lacks good links from Town and also virtually no link to the town itself.

Various teams over the years I've paid interest to - whether watching them regularly when living there, going to games on the continent for one reason or another, following from afar of back of something niche.

But nothing ever grabs me at all - And I actively follow and watch any game I can of Ipswich, Ipswich U21s, U18s, Ipswich women, England, U21s, U20s (thanks to FIFA+ for WC last month) and downwards as low as it goes, the Lionesses.

I guess I don't have much time for much else despite soft spots that come and go for various teams liek Roma, Ajax or other teams that generally have ex-Ipswich or English players playing for them!

Now I totally sympathize with trying to dilute the yellow and green in your life Mr Stow, my list would likely run out of TWTD characters in your position.

I tried supporting Hibs on the side briefly when they were my closest, but never got past the stumbling block of knowing I would sacrifice all their season's points if it meant 1 extra for Town. They also had a very good season and I started to resent them for that as we didn't!

Bromley. The ground is within walking distance from me. Hoping they can get to League two soon.

I wouldn't say support, I've only been to the stadium once, and that was a tour while on holiday rather than an actual match. But I do follow the fortunes of Valencia. They were my go-to team when I first played Champ in the late 90s, and they were everyone's favourite underdog in Europe around that time, so they sort of stuck.

Mata, Silva, Villa, Baraja, Angulo, Albiol, Marchena etc. Unbelievable side for Champ.

When my bro-in-law played, I'd follow his career and go and watch the games of the club he was playing for.

As one of those was Cambridge, I went to quite a few of their games in the late 00's if ITFC weren't playing, and have been to Wembley three times with them in Conference PO Finals.

I'm hoping that with all the development up there that one day there will have to be some transport links, and maybe even a pub or two, (though I can see it turning out a bit like Northampton.)

Ross County in a disinterested way, glad to see the incredible come back and penalties win for them to stay in the Premiership. Have been to a couple of games there and enjoy the old skool feel of the place. Although Dingwall is nearer to me I still feel a bit guilty about never having been to see the ever unsuccessful Fort William.

No, but there are certain clubs I would want to do better than others, due to family ties - Leyton Orient, Tottenham. And I so long as we are the dominant team in East Anglia, I want other East Anglian teams to be in the same division. So I wouldn't want Norwich to go down next season, and I'd want Cambridge, Colchester, and Peterborough to get promoted. Norwich surviving on the last day of the season or finishing 7th as we pip them to the play offs. I prefer this to them going down. Ideally we'd be winning European games, whilst they are struggling in the premiership, wondering why they can't emulate our success.

Fair play! There are quite a few teams I follow but nothing close to my love for Town. I've a big soft spot for Argyle, watched them in late 80's and 90's so this year ended up very enjoyable. Also Posh as my local team and don't mind Leicester too (though they can **** off if they're interested in KMc).

Probably telling that my goal apps ring only for Town but my Mrs has Town, Posh, Plymouth, Watford just to keep me informed. She's not a big one for watching games but is fascinated by the scores and if a game goes to penalties!

Saw quite a few Southend games on Friday nights in the early 80s but don't have a great deal of affection other than feeling pretty sad that they ended up in non league.

Keep an eye on Weymouth, the town I live in.

Great escape last season, securing their National League South status on the same day Town were promoted by beating Exeter. Great day.

Even better that Yeovil and Torquay went down and will be in 'our' league this coming season.

Oh, and I keep an eye on Col U, as I played there as a kid.

FC Halifax, I lived close by for many years so would go along now and again. Last couple of years went with a friend (season tickets holder for 50|+ years). He died in April so I will always be fond of them, and still try to get to some matches.

Barrow AFC. They were my local team growing up. Though I have to say I was behind Town when we played them in the cup.

Each to their own but I find it odd to be honest with a couple of exceptions.

Less odd if you support Town but have lived somewhere else for a while and take an interest in the local club. Same if people take an interest in local non league teams. A random second team is odd to me though.

It’s ok for expats and quite common. It’s also ok if you move a long way from home and want to watch your local team on a weekend. Other than that, no.
It’s borderline supporting one’s national team to be honest - and I am as chauvinistic as they come - but I’ll allow it.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Incredible game as you say.

I support Hibs but I suppose Patrick Thistle are a second club to me now. My mate is a massive fan but there’s a lot to like about them with their recent history, insane mascot and the long-standing cheeriness of their fans despite scrabbling around in the shadow of the Old Firm.

But still pleased for Ross County. Sitting all the way up North, it’s pretty important for them and Scottish football that they survived. And my Thistle mate was fairly relaxed afterwards too – he thinks the Scottish Championship is more fun than the SPL dogfight regularly interspersed with humpings from the big clubs. He’s probably not wrong about that – and possibly not a million miles away from us at ITFC if we get within Prem range.

Surprised Fortuna Dusseldorf hasn't had a mention yet. They certainly love ITFC and we should reciprocate

I also follow closely the fortunes of Venezia in Italy (my affections having shifted from Fiorentina in recent years despite them being my favourites since the heyday of Gazetta on Channel 4).

In Scotland it's Hearts due to many years living in Scotland and choosing to avoid the Old Firm

Ajax because my friend in the Netherlands is a fanatic

When I couldn't get to see Town in my youth, I would always go and watch Lincoln City but the Cowley days and them being in the same division completely killed any real affection I had for them.
I am a member of the the UK-Fohlen group which is Borussia Monchengladbach's UK fan club. Been there a couple of times and definitely have a soft spot for the fans and their community. I watch games on TV when I can but struggle to keep up with player and manager churn these days (bye bye Daniel!) which I find makes it easy to disengage from a team.

It's always been Town and nothing else would come close, even if it's been an unrequited relationship at times in recent years. GC20 seem to be on the right track though.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
