Man City fans still hold a grudge against us! on 09:30 - Oct 27 by Reus30 | Cockney wannabes! What a load of tosh. Time and success seems to have eroded their brain cell. I remember that day well, it was when my curse began as it was the final time I saw Town win at home for about 25 games in a row in the early 2000s. Don't remember the banner though... |
We did sing "Blue moon, you got promoted too soon" but I similarly don't remember the banner

And now you're going back down, and Europe's coming to Town. All of which was factually accurate at the time.

Man City fans still hold a grudge against us! on 10:12 - Oct 27 with 3910 views | LegendofthePhoenix | What's the term nowadays? Oh yeah, we are living rent free in their heads. Odd that such a massive team still have that grudge against little old Ipswich.

Man City fans still hold a grudge against us! on 10:28 - Oct 27 with 3887 views | dirtyboy | I quite like the fact that they hold a grudge, that's a proper fan. They've got their own back on us a million times over though, so the level of vitriol is somewhat odd. Kind of nice that we've been remembered for doing something different to stick in their minds. A backhanded compliment if you like. We've got a few things wrong for sure...would they have done the same? Absolutely, it's what fans do. Would we ignore Norwich if we were winning the CL and they were in L1? Of course not, the history between us will always remain....forever...no matter what. Fair play to the original city fans btw...

It is and I reckon the older boys miss being a normal club once in a while. Annoyingly they also hold a positive record against Real Madrid at the moment, thought that could have been the inspiration for our next one. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

"It is and I reckon the older boys miss being a normal club once in a while." That's why Uwe Rösler regularly shows up among their 'all-time greats". And why during lock-down there was a Manchester City fan on a Colchester facebook site trying to track down Tony Adcock (long-serving Colchester striker who also played for City), hoping to get the 'match-ball' from when he scored a hat-trick for City against Huddersfield in 1987, as he (the fan) had the two other hat-trick 'match-balls' from the same game. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2009/nov/07/manchester-city-huddersfield-three

It was probably two teenagers scrawling on a bed sheet. And it's just football banter isn't it? Its better than fisty cuffs on the terraces.

Given the Saudis' history of dealing with errant journos - I wonder how Mr Ham would have fared if teamsheetgate had happened under their ownership?

Agreed, that Paul Power goal in the semi-final still gives me PTSD! At the time it broke my heart as a 9 year old.

Man City fans still hold a grudge against us! on 16:47 - Oct 27 with 3519 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | I don't understand given all they have done why they would hate us so much, even our relations with Bolton/Sheffield United are good these days! Maybe we should bring the banner out the next time we play them and see if they have developed a sense of humour or not! What I will say is, in my teenage years, when all I had was cash and there were only limited online sales options, i'd catch the train to Ipswich to be told there were no tickets in the home end but they would usually accomodate myself and my mates in the away end, so the home fixture against Man City in the promotion season I was sat with them and to be honest, they were good as gold dispute losing the game! I think people were generally better about losing back then though.

Was that the game that Gary Croft found himself arrested afterwards on the back of being spotted on the TV? He scored which didn't help.

Man City fans still hold a grudge against us! on 08:42 - Oct 27 by Mullet | Absolutely baffling levels of dislike. I don't even remember the banner if I'm honest. Not sure City fans should be looking beyond their own fanbase these days though. |
I don't remember the banner, I do remember us ripping the absolute p out of them when we beat them though, Blue moon you got promoted too soon... Citeh fans probably weren't used to that, being a massive club and all that. As for abandoned games due to weather, how about that one at Maine Road in 94,or the Worthless Cup in 2000 ?

It was true at the time to be fair.

Internet innit on 08:36 - Oct 28 with 3257 views | Dyland | It's simply a few fans on the internet making something out of nothing. I know a Citeh fan and have been to a few away games in London plus European nights in Manchester, and he along with others I've been with seem to really like Town, our history and Royle connection, rivalry in second division etc. Very few fans actually give a sh1t about a comedy bedsheet, and that goes for Brighton as well. In fact, the only fans annoyed by Town bedsheets on any scale are Town fans, with regard the Magic out effort. And fair enough, that was a fooking idiotic and entitled and anti-Town bollix thing, and that fan isn't really a supporter at all.
