BBC saying McKenna and Pert want to move on 16:00 - May 22 with 43607 viewsBluebacker

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c3ggpj1j4y7o

Talks with Ipswich are likely to take place this week and the Tractor Boys are expected to offer McKenna a new deal to convince him to stay at Portman Road.

BBC Sport understands that is expected to fail with the manager, and assistant Martyn Pert, feeling the time is right to move.

He’s almost manufacturing it that KM HAS to leave. If he creates enough bad blood between the club/MA and McKenna it’s going to ruin any working relationship and trust going forwards. If none of these moves materialise, it’s going to be very difficult moving forward.

I would assume the club are well aware of where the noise is coming from and that KMc isn't the instigator of that sort of story.

If this story is true, what exactly does it mean?

1. I don't want to commit to ITFC beyond 2027
2. I want to keep my options open this summer
or
3. I've been offered the Brighton/Chelsea/Man Utd job so am rejecting a new deal

Phil are you still in the camp that says he doesn't go to Brighton or elsewhere? This article seems to contradict that. Surely his agent is not going to brief that he wants to move on if that is not the case.

Well we've already lost that head start on the PO teams, haven't we? They play this weekend and no sane player is going to be keen on putting pen to paper on a deal while this saga continues.

Maybe, just maybe, this is our first taste of why bottom half teams despise the Premier League but can't afford to leave it?

But it's his representative isn't it. Not really a good look.

Like me going outside with my work uniform on and decking an old lady just for the banter really. There will be some reputation damage to my employer most likely.

I don't know I need to stop caring. I know he is going to stay.... he told me. He winked and said "watch this".

1.

It doesn’t mean he won’t be here come August. He may not want to sign a new deal with certain terms stipulated in them even more so if he’s not driven by money.

But my fear is he is waiting to see if there is United interest. ETH is due to be sacked after cup final.

That's what I'm thinking.

I would assume that a new contract would contain a heftier release clause and that it wouldn't become active until next summer at the earliest. If he feels that United or Chelsea are seriously interested, then it would make sense for him to choose to keep his old terms and remain available to their approaches if/when they come.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

The club and MA must be going mad at all this speculation. Constant noise the last few days & today alone we've had new contracts being discussed & now that KM & Pert both want to leave!

Like you say, i don't see Chelsea happening. Would be a massive risk for them, but then they're an absolute shambles in all honesty so anything is possible.

I doubt the club is bothered and probably know that KM is staying and all this is just page filling as nothing else to report on.

KM will still be ITFC manager next season.

I think he will be with us for 1 more season. If things arent great in December he'll probably be off. However, if we do have a bad season with him in charge I doubt it will damage his appeal from the bigger clubs all that much.

If he's waiting on the Man U job, I can understand that.

But, if that is holding up us moving on with planning for next season then his "the club will be in a very good position next season" ultimately means nothing. This needs to be settled asap.

Unless KM’s agent has gone rogue (in which case the record needs to put right pronto) then I must have had KM wrong all this time as he’s either stupid or snakey enough to sign off on this messaging. I don’t really like either possibility. If he wants to go then he can do so without playing it out this way. In a way it’s made the process easier for me at least as I’m losing respect for the bloke.

I don’t think any of this will be impressing Tony Bloom at Brighton either.

Edit - I know if just p!seed and Sh@t myself at once but this is looking very messy now.

If true, so much for the belief that McKenna’s happy and doesn’t necessarily want to move on. Sounds like he can’t wait to get out of the door.

Literally. If you are under the age of 30 then it's probably a safe bet to say you will not see a better 2 seasons ever from this club, in terms of performance on and off the pitch.

Paul Lambert still has a year left under his contract ffs, who knows where we'd be instead if we were forced to see that through with him.

Agree with that other than United.

Because the club know him and he knows the club and have now seen the success he has had. Recent experienced appointments have failed for them so I think they may see this as a ‘gamble’ worth taking.

The agent is moving like a randy fellow in the nightclub at 2am. He needs a bird quick and just putting it on everyone

The most sensible option is to line the Man Utd job up. Give Ten Hag another season, they can buy Evan Ferguson this summer, and then loan him to us, in fact just load all their promising youngsters to us and Kieran can coach him this year, and then they all move on next summer. The agents get a blockbuster fee then, lets face it, Brighton are not going to pay then a decent fee are they?

Kieran is a Man Utd fan, he does not want to go to Chelsea (they need to sell a load of players anyway), and Brighton have peaked. I would be amazed if they managed to get into the top six again in the next 20 years.

What makes you think that about Brighton? Assume you mean that a “no” would come from KM rather than Brighton not wanting him?

He might feel it’s a good career move for him but it would look terrible for him as a person.

I suppose it just shows how the game is these days and maybe his time at United taught him how to be ruthless and unloyal when the chance comes to progress his career. I’d imagine that’s how all the really top managers climb the ladder.

He really should give the club 1 year in the PL.

It would for a lot of fans. Can you imagine him never getting the chance to see how he would have faired with us in the PL.

It’s totally understandable.

I’d be thankful for all he did but it wouldn’t be the same as if he’d have at least given us a season. It would definitely tarnish things somewhat. You may not agree but you will be in the minority

That’s been my worry. But given all the side conversations and so on that can happen, you’d think his agent would have a pretty good idea of how likely any Man Utd offer is going to be, wouldn’t you?
