Really, really getting fed up with this at the moment. It's clear we've got a couple of groups of posters who don't particularly like one another and threads are deliberately derailed and ultimately turned into rows. I've just removed a thread which was in no way offensive, which was mocked and belittled for no good reason other than a handful of posters don't like the poster who started the thread. The Forum can't really run like that, posters have to rub along together regardless of whether they get along. Perhaps there can be an end to the animosity and sniping or posters, some of whom are very long term posters, will no longer be welcome.
A certain poster overreacted to a fairly light hearted comment. That's what started it.
Now, on this very thread, we have three posters projecting their own actions. One complaining about going running to the teacher while going running to the teacher. One accusing others of rewriting the narrative while rewriting the narrative and one who usually remains in the shadows egging on the bigger kids who is feeling a bit braver.
It's tedious. For you and everyone else.
A disingenuous and untrue post but I am no longer surprised.

I would like to clarify that I have never run to teacher. I make my feelings known in-thread if I have an opinion, or I just move on and hide the thread. I have zero users on ignore.
I'm close to being a free-speech absolutist. Unless a post is likely to cause Phil legal problems, I say leave them be. Let the debate flow and the court of public opinion decide. Nobody is forced to read them, and a few of us could do with growing a thicker skin.
Duplicate thread. Been like 4 times in as many weeks. Post the thread, everyone makes a joke and blames each other and then chills for a bit before another explosion.
Pleading to a bunch of man (or woman) babies to behave isn't going to work. Some times you just need that ban hammer and smack them as hard as possible.
Only so many times you put up with this pish. Need some form of fight club or anchorman style brawl.

Not sure if that is a general post or you think I mean you?

A very sensible person of my acquaintance who isn't into social media at all, but has kids & grandkids who are, said something very astute thing about it - that it's too instantly reactive for her liking - most people don't pause to think or reflect for even a second, are just immediately triggered by their emotions which flow instantly to their keyboard fingers.
TWTD *can* be very different to that of course in some health-related or life-circumstance help threads, but where football or politics are concerned ...

That is probably true.
Give it an hour and we'll all be having a polite chat about deep space.
Probably the reason why I very rarely bother looking at the forum side of things on twtd - there is an obvious little clique who think their hilarious opinions are the only ones worth listening to - school playground stuff.

Which is an odd thing really, because it is the perfect media for stopping and reflecting before saying something. In real life something comes out of your mouth, that's it said and done. On social media you can type something out, read it reflect on it, edit or delete it.
But people don't, mostly, or they don't appear to.
Mind you I get rid of about a third of the stuff I start typing. Generally because it's just shlt, not rude. I should probably wheen it down a bit more.

I often start a post, get distracted then come back and read it and think this is complete sh1t and delete it

I've suggested a couple of times over the years that people type their posts, then leave them for a while before returning to re-read them, & only then posting them if they still want to.
Sadly, have never taken my own advice when I should have done!
