Really, really getting fed up with this at the moment. It's clear we've got a couple of groups of posters who don't particularly like one another and threads are deliberately derailed and ultimately turned into rows. I've just removed a thread which was in no way offensive, which was mocked and belittled for no good reason other than a handful of posters don't like the poster who started the thread. The Forum can't really run like that, posters have to rub along together regardless of whether they get along. Perhaps there can be an end to the animosity and sniping or posters, some of whom are very long term posters, will no longer be welcome.

I've no idea why some posters don't like Stokers, he's one of the least offensive posters on here. Most of the time he just posts facts!

Actually, Factual Blue has his haters too, maybe there's a theme there!?

Could you employ a "card" system?

I sometimes wonder if people even realise they've gone too far. (Like what's considered appropriate clothing for work, but that's a different conversation)

In my place of work is an individual who often takes part in charity fund for a mental health charity, yet is one of those "who tells it how it is" regardless of potential impact on a person's mental health.

Did individual has recently moved sideways (arguably downwards) after a spectacular loss of control of a task he was responsible for.

This individual had tried this on me a few times because I got the job "he should have had" it was at this point that a turned down a job offer elsewhere just to pish him off; yeah I can be petty.

But main point is life is so full of "bantz" people who lost sight of what is (should be?) acceptable or unacceptable.

Why don’t these people just put each other on Ignore?

There’s literally a feature designed to ignore people you can’t stand.

These people really need to give their head a wobble if that’s what they get a kick out of… Would anyone actually miss them if they were just booted off here? They’ve had so many warnings.

I honestly think that TWTD's history of being pretty clean and well mannered is also its curse. For 20 odd years the routine goes that someone gets riled up and removed from the board after a sustaining a prolonged period of covert digs and jibes. As one group of posters who disliked the banned poster celebrates, they get emboldened and louder and then the people who don't like it go in with a period of covert digs and jibes - so the pendulum keeps rocking back and forward.

Much easier to moderate if people outright post "Hey Chris, you're a tw@t"* - Sadly, people don't say it how they see it. Roy Walker would be furious if he came on here and saw it.

* Not actually saying you're a tw@t, framed it that way for effect.

Politeness is the answer.

We live in a world where people have different views, and the world would be a poorer place without it.

So if you disagree with a poster, do it in a polite and constructive way, something that doesn't always happen on here.

In addition, consider whether you would say the same to a person you don't know if you met them in person.

And to quote Atticus Finch

“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view ... until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.”

Bantz!

The meaning of banter has changed over the years. It used to be a light-hearted witty exvhange between people, one in which everyone enjoyed and participated in, Now it's bantz and as often as not it is one person being demeaning or rude for a laugh, whether anyone else involved likes it or not.

Perhaps but I would rather the site managed itself than have to actively referee. We go through spells of months where everything is fine, then people get a bit tetchy with one another for whatever reason and it becomes a pain to run the site.

Ha….! on 07:24 - Jun 26 by Bloots

….you're the kid that downvoted me when I posted that KM was staying at ITFC aren’t you?

Now you’re complaining about a post where I used the words “bird” and “bloke” colloquially and somewhat ironically in the same sentence to highlighted how good the “bird” was in comparison to the “blokes”.

You’ve actually got a thread removed that praised a female pundit over the majority of male ones!

I don’t know what your problem is with women, but I don’t think it’s the sort of thing that female posters or any more enlightened younger or newer posters would feel particularly happy about.

Poor effort.

Not looking for an argument here but I honestly don't think that thread last night was that bad. Granted the OPs thread got somewhat derailed but there was no abuse. Certainly nothing like Mach's meltdown that saw him get banned or anything like that. If every thread that got derailed in some way was removed, there wouldn't be much left!

You’ve obviously missed the one where Bloots and Sitters are referring to female football pundits as birds, chicks and box tickers.

Don’t think it’s the sort of thing that female posters or any more enlightened younger or newer posters would feel particularly happy about.

Appreciate you have hands full with the political squabbles because they’re the ones where posters constantly report their enemies in the hope of achieving a ban to celebrate, but I can’t believe you’re particularly happy with that sort of 1970’s attitude towards women either.

Every time Phil posts one of these thread there an attempt to rewrite the narrative of what happened and with the thread being deleted it's hard to provide examples to counter.

It's always the same posters and happens every time.

You didn’t miss any drama. There was no abuse. Phil thought a thread had been derailed but everybody went to bed pretty much nonplussed. The thread wasn’t taken down.

Then, quite a bit later, another poster gave his critique of the thread, the moderation of the thread and the person who started the thread and it was deleted.

I’ll say no more than that.

It was taken down as I was getting fed up and thought it would only continue to degenerate. I made it clear what the issue was and hopefully similar threads in the future won't go down a similar route.

A certain poster overreacted to a fairly light hearted comment. That's what started it.

Now, on this very thread, we have three posters projecting their own actions. One complaining about going running to the teacher while going running to the teacher. One accusing others of rewriting the narrative while rewriting the narrative and one who usually remains in the shadows egging on the bigger kids who is feeling a bit braver.

It's tedious. For you and everyone else.
