I'm probably in the minority here. 18:05 - Oct 26 with 6124 viewshomer_123

And that's fine.

I'm feeling quite positive after today. A performance that was infinitely better than the Everton game.

I know, I know...we didn't get anything out of today. I get that.

However, we are 'not' out of our league...Brentford are a quality side and that was a really good performance.

For me...results 'will' come.

I'm gutted, absolutely gutted, but..... I can definitely also see the positives from the performance.

Agree that there were some positives. Delap, Sammy, Hirst and Chappers all did well today. Phillips was much better and the cross from Davis for the third goal was sublime. But our defence is porous and not helped by an erratic keeper. Given the injuries we had it was a brave performance and much improved on Everton. Sadly our summer recruitment has not been strong enough.

Me too. Great performance I felt. We were on top for periods, everything changed with the sending off, (Which wasn't a free kick, never mind a 2nd yellow), but for the width of a post that ends up 4-4 even with 10 men.

We need to tighten up. Once Brentford started playing on the shoulder of our high line, we were exposed.

Hirst was outstanding in the first half, and we got a glimpse of the real Kalvin Phillips.

I'm in your corner. Really enjoyed today's game and thought we were going to get something from it. Very positive for the players to know they have it in them to more than compete with a very good PL club. Positives all round for me today.

The attacking play was similar to that of last year. We looked like a real threat.

Some great performances today against a very strong side at home. Couple of mistakes again and some dodgy reffing but all positive in my eyes. We play like that every week and tidy the results, we will be ok.

Please tell me what you've been drinking? I need some!

The point is we played probably better than we expected to today and still found a way to lose from 2-0 up.

I fear we are on for less points than the 94-5 season to be honest.

Defensively we are an absolute joke, we were last year too at times but you can get away with it 9/10 times in the championship but not in this league. We need 36 points out of 28 games and have 4 from 9 you honestly think we'll turn it around?

Same. Can't stand the hysteria. Basically we just need to trust McKenna and try to enjoy it. It's a huge step up and some of the pre season predictions were laughable.

Look at our league position in the next year and lets see where we are.

Truly impaired.

I like this thread.
Thanks for posting.
Gutted about the result and it may end up not being our season, but I was so proud of the team today.
Almost pulled off a miraculous result.
Credit also to the amazing fans there today.
Sounded amazing on the tv.

For me, that's the first defeat we've had that we probably didn't deserve and that will really sting.

I love the sentiment. We need to re-group and remember what got us here. Aside from the silly mistakes, we are battling VAR, much better players and an almost freak succession of injury calamaties.

Here's to the tide turning...and quickly. Starting with Leicester.

McKenna has earnt the right even if we go down with 16 points. In him we trust but there will be little to cheer after 90 mins this season.

We don't need 36 points at all. We need a goal difference of +1 better than who ever is 18th.

Here's the thing.

We are ahead of where anyone expected us to be by a season or so. No one expected double promotion.

We are 'competing' at this level, which, frankly is amazing.

Sure...be great to stay up and yes, we absolutely have a chance to do so. I've seen enough of us and other teams to see we can do it.

But, you know what, it doesn't matter if we don't.

After so, so long...I am going to enjoy the ride even if it turns into a death slide.

Agreed. A very heartening, gutsy performance.
Gutsy but with real attacking quality....with 10 men of course!
Play like that, particularly at home, we have a chance.....so much better than last week against Everton.

Agree but we are here. You just wonder where wew will go next season, look at Luton!

I was more hurt by last week's defeat to Everton than today.

Last week was such an "Un-McKenna" like performance from the boys and rarely looked like troubling Everton's lead, whereas today we did look threatening and at least gave it a right go.

Dont get me wrong, to be 2-0 up and then to go 3-2 behind, and then to pull it back to 3-3 with 10 men and not much time left only to lose 4-3 is disappointing, but the defeat is easier to take because the performance levels were higher.

Im proud of the boys tonight - lets take the positives onto the Leicester game, hope a few of the injured/ill players can return and get right behind them at PR. The Town fans today were incredible by the way!

I am majorly frustrated today, above all else... You say it was infinitely better than Everton.. in all honesty it couldn't have been any worse than Everton, as we were poor...

We did play well today, but still have nothing to show for it.. playing well won't keep us in this league..

I too, hope the results will come, but they need to come pretty quickly, if we're not going to drop too far into the bottom 3

Same. I was going to post a new thread having a whine at the whiners but I'll just do it here. To see people saying "I hate this league" because we're conceding goals is pathetic. Fair enough if you hate VAR (I do with a passion) and the PL brand, but don't suddenly pretend you don't want to be there because we're losing.

Did no one think we could have a difficult (more than difficult even) start to the season? Is it really unthinkable that we've lost three in a row? We'll go on longer losing runs this season than that.

Everton are a team we're not suited to playing against, in hindsight. As much as I can't stand them and think they're boring and don't like Dyche, they're better and stronger than they're made out to be. Without their deduction they were comfortably safe last season. Conclusion; far too much was made of last weekend's game.

We're fairly depleted today. No Axel, Hutchinson, Morsy, Taylor, Greaves, Ogbene off after half an hour (have I missed anyone?) and we go and score three away from home, and almost grabbed an equalizer at the very death. I don't like the penalty, it's another example of re-refereeing the game and I'm not sure it's a foul anyway. Why does every 50/50 have to be given one way or the other now - what happened to play on? Six of one etc. And I might be wrong but at first glance I thought Clarke got the ball for the second yellow.

Anyway, it's a game that gives me confidence because we're seeing fringe players start to get involved. That'll do wonders for George Hirst for example, he might now be thinking he should get a start against his old club next week.

We're going to concede goals and there's a question around the GK, but let's face it we conceded a lot last season and currently we have almost the same back four, it's going to happen. Just enjoy the entertainment, frankly who cares if we go down? It's what everyone expects anyway.

I think it was a decent performance. We have 2 excellent number 9s in Hirst and Delap. Not convinced about OShea but thought Burgess did well. The midfield today of Phillips and Cajuste shows signs of real quality. I think Harry Clarke was unlucky and a bit naive, but has the athleticism to make the step up. Davis def Premier League quality. My real concern is our keeper. Yes he made a couple of decent saves but liable to make blunders, so I really think Walton would be a safer bet. Shame about Ogbene’s injury, sounds like a season ending one. Hutchinson out wide right for me, with Burns as back up.

I gotta admit, I'm the complete opposite and totally deflated.

Defence and goalie unfortunately are not good enough. We look a bit like Luton last year.....well score goals but let in too many.
