Yep. 1-0 and you bring on a league two player just when Sammie and delap starting to work well together.

I do think that he's done an amazing job for us.

But he does need to start showing in these games why he's now earning £5m a year.

So? Look at Palace how they closed the game out and Nottm Forest. Instead of bringing on Al-Hamadi and Clarke why not go to a back 5 to protect the lead?

Delap dead on his feet is still more likely to score though.

He took off our 2 goal threats.

Delap had to come off. He was shot. And Bournemouth could see that and could push an extra 5 yards higher.

Realistically we deserved to lose on the amount of big chances we conceded vs what we created. It's unsustainable and will guarantee relegation. We saw a 5 game improvement but we're now 4 games of being negative again.

I don't blame KM, we aren't nearly good enough and the transfers in the summer weren't enough. You can't even really blame the transfers though, it's nigh-on impossible to create a Prem squad from Championship promotion.

Our only hope of staying up would have been to become a very direct one-dimensional team and roll the dice.

Our energy actually noticeably jumped after those changes and we started to find a threat again in their half. Then our keeper abandons his goal line. Momentum Bournemouth.

Delap looked absolutely goosed from about 55mins. Because he and Sammie linked up once doesn't pardon the numerous times he failed to keep hold of the ball and invited pressure back on us. No slight on him by the way, but he was knackered and his touch completely went.

Optimistic but unlikely. Any prem quality players in Jan will go to established clubs, any 1/2 and 1/2 will wait till the summer for their own benefit, so you're looking at strengthening with players who likely aren't really good enough. It's the reality for newly promoted clubs

This is the Premier league. Completely different.

What premiership quality player is going to come to us, presumably in 4 games time will be even more adrift?

That's absolutely how I saw it.

An extra Central Defender may have been a sensible option, though.

Is it just me, or has he become uncharacteristically inflexible this season compared with our promotion ones? His policy of not having a CB on the bench does seem rigid & risky.

Nobody was complaining and thought they knew better when he was taking off our main threats last season. The bottom line is we’ve now got no depth on the bench. He’s obviously got to manage fitness levels yet he also knows we drop the quality when we make the subs. It’s a bit of a non-win situation for him and he can only do what he thinks is best.

Doesn't help when our best defender is out for months, including a bizarre domestic injury. We haven't had much luck with RBs for about 20 years!

Not to mention Greaves' injury, when he'd been doing so well. I'm not defending the eff-ups, but KM & Muric have never had the option of a settled side who could get to know each other. Hats off to Burgess though - outstanding for us. 👏🏻

As soon you see Clarke and Hamadi you know it is going to be tough to close out the game, they are not anywhere close to PL level, I am not really sure they are are lower level championship players right now.

Should have brought on Townsend for Sammi and let him and Leif close down the left side by all means they could.

What's Mick doing in January?

KM massively fked that up. on 16:49 - Dec 8 with 8034 viewsBlueOura

Agreed. Subs were really poor today. Al-Hamadi for Delap was fine as we had little choice but it really was crying out for Phillips or Cajuste to come on, possibly even both.

Jack Taylor was awful in the second half, not sure if he was just tired or what, but he wasn't even running and was leaving huge spaces in the middlle of the park. We were hanging on but we never looked fully in control and you always sensed that if they got one they would get another.

Jack Clarke was also the wrong choice. Szmodics looked fine to me and was doing a good job, JC is not the player you want on the pitch to help you close a game out, no suprise the winner came down our left side.

Very disappointing from KM today, hope he learns quickly from it.

Let's face it we didn't expect Town to storm this League with what we brought in added to what we had. Maybe we thought they would do a tad better than what they have. But I keep looking back at when we played Fulham last season in the Cup. The gulf between us was huge. The players brought in whilst some were top Championship players and players plucked from Premier League squads none had much if any Premier league experience. Due to a few injuries and a few not by any means making the step up we are where we are. it is not currently looking good with a run of games in December that are difficult to see many draws or even three points. As for January I suspect it will hinge on how far adrift we are as to whether we splash out or whether it is a moderate window with one eye on resetting from the Championship again.
