Interesting choices Swailsey, but not for me. The three that always leap to mind are:
Gus Uhlenbeek - he’d go charging up the wing like an enraged rhino to cries of ‘shut the gate!’ Before hoofing it into the wide open spaces behind the goal or over the stand. He was great.
Shefki Kuqi - rampaged around chasing everything from the ball to a paper bag (Joe Royle) and that goal celebration was just the best. It was an event.
An all time fave though is Micky Stockwell. He played like a Duracell Bunny. He was everywhere. It was once said he did everything including chiselling the names on the memorial wall with his teeth. It was a sad day when he called it a day after a long career. Thoroughly nice bloke too, apparently. [Post edited 8 Jan 6:45]

Mick Stockwell - Mr Ipswich. He played all over the park and gave everything. His running style was fab, somewhat Idiosyncratic like Tom Cruises.
David Lowe - stylish and with a great finish. I remember a stonking header at Elm Park back in the day, shame he didn't continue to progress.
Mark Brennan - always thought he'd make it higher, but in a Town shirt, in the games I saw him as a kid (and he can't have been much older than me), he bossed the midfield and had a presence about him. |  | | |

Gus Uhlenbeek. Absolute pace merchant, couldn't cross a ball, but always has the sense of something exciting happening when he got the ball.
Bobby Petta. That season we scored 5 in a load of games, I'm sure he was playing like Messi in his prime, and I was gutted when he went to Celtic. |  |

David Lowe I think got a bad knee injury and was never quite the same for us. Not sure John Lyall was a huge fan either as his. His favoured forwards werevery much Kiwomya (lovely player), Dozzell, Goddard and Whitton.
As you say, he was a terrific player. He ran with a hunched posture and appeared to have an oversized head (big hair!).
Brennan is an interesting choice. He came into the team about the same time as headband and glass knees Ian Cranson. Lovely, stylish midfielder. Looking at wiki, he left during John Duncan’s time. I have often wondered what player he might have been with better managers than Ferguson and Duncan and a better team than those we had 83-88. | | | |
