Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 22:50 - Jan 7 with 4045 views | norfsufblue | Ian Redford for me.... always wanted ( and felt like he would) him along with Neil Woods to kick-start our team back to greatness but it never really happened.
Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 23:09 - Jan 7 with 3990 views | Churchman | Interesting choices Swailsey, but not for me. The three that always leap to mind are: Gus Uhlenbeek - he’d go charging up the wing like an enraged rhino to cries of ‘shut the gate!’ Before hoofing it into the wide open spaces behind the goal or over the stand. He was great. Shefki Kuqi - rampaged around chasing everything from the ball to a paper bag (Joe Royle) and that goal celebration was just the best. It was an event. An all time fave though is Micky Stockwell. He played like a Duracell Bunny. He was everywhere. It was once said he did everything including chiselling the names on the memorial wall with his teeth. It was a sad day when he called it a day after a long career. Thoroughly nice bloke too, apparently. [Post edited 8 Jan 6:45]

Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 23:27 - Jan 7 with 3903 views | Hugoagogo_Reborn | Jason de.Vos Ian Westlake Tommy Miller Luke Varney Adam Proudlock (purely because he obviously looked at a pie and gained 7 pounds, like me, but Joe Royle took a punt and he had a blonde highlighted mullet, and had no right being a footballer)

Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 07:35 - Jan 8 with 3458 views | durhamj | Mick Stockwell - Mr Ipswich. He played all over the park and gave everything. His running style was fab, somewhat Idiosyncratic like Tom Cruises. David Lowe - stylish and with a great finish. I remember a stonking header at Elm Park back in the day, shame he didn't continue to progress. Mark Brennan - always thought he'd make it higher, but in a Town shirt, in the games I saw him as a kid (and he can't have been much older than me), he bossed the midfield and had a presence about him.
Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 07:46 - Jan 8 with 3431 views | Kieran_Knows | Sixto Peralta for me. No reason at all other than it was around that time my Auntie first started taking me to Town games and his name always stood out to me.

Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 07:54 - Jan 8 with 3388 views | Dubtractor | Gus Uhlenbeek. Absolute pace merchant, couldn't cross a ball, but always has the sense of something exciting happening when he got the ball. Bobby Petta. That season we scored 5 in a load of games, I'm sure he was playing like Messi in his prime, and I was gutted when he went to Celtic.

David Lowe I think got a bad knee injury and was never quite the same for us. Not sure John Lyall was a huge fan either as his. His favoured forwards werevery much Kiwomya (lovely player), Dozzell, Goddard and Whitton. As you say, he was a terrific player. He ran with a hunched posture and appeared to have an oversized head (big hair!). Brennan is an interesting choice. He came into the team about the same time as headband and glass knees Ian Cranson. Lovely, stylish midfielder. Looking at wiki, he left during John Duncan’s time. I have often wondered what player he might have been with better managers than Ferguson and Duncan and a better team than those we had 83-88.

You're right about Cranson, but despite that he went on to play a shed load of games for Stoke after he left us.
Players I’ve uniquely loved over the years as much as Janoi on 08:28 - Jan 8 with 3236 views | farkenhell | Post- the Robson era (when frankly I can't think of any players that I didn't warm to) I would have to choose Romeo Zondervan, Steve Whitton and, more latterly, Daryl Murphy. Edit - plus Alex Mathie and Matt Holland. [Post edited 8 Jan 8:30]

And a soft spot for Matt Richards at that time too, probably because he was the underdog and getting hammered by everyone. He didn’t deserve that. I’m a fan of Woolfy in the current bunch. Seems Mr Ipswich. And obviously Chappers.

I used to have a picture of Gus Uhlenbeek on my wall with a crown drawn in his head. Absolutely my most favourite player ever, followed closely by Roberto Baggio...

There was a bloke that used to sit above us in the family enclosure that would religously boo Jermaine Wright when his name was read out prior to every game. Could never understand it.
